Kevin Costner Pitches Oil Spill Fix to Congress
Kevin Costner Goes to Congress with His Idea to Help the Oil Spill
Costner has had his ups (Field of Dreams) and downs (Waterworld - even though i liked it) in the past and he's heading to Congress to help fix the oil spill. Costner has been working on a 895-million dollar emergency plan to clean up the oil in the gulf.
As we all remember, BP capped the oil leak that had been ongoing for months and shortly after another rig caught fire and began spilling into the gulf once more. A newly discovered type of microbe was on top of it at first, eating up all of the oil floating around in the gulf before the second explosion.
Now the Hollywood star is taking action, stepping in with the idea he's been working on since the first oil spill, and his product has even been leased by BP, says Yahoo:
"Costner -- the on-screen hero of "Waterworld" who has a real life passion for developing oil clean-up technology -- said that 32 of his company's centrifugal oil-water separators leased by BP sat idle while the British energy giant figured out what to do with them."
What to do with them? Costner obviously helped have them developed for a certain REASON, and their use, to me at least, is OBVIOUS. To clean up the ever leaking oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. To restore the natural ecological balance.
Ocean Therapy Solutions, Costner's Firm, are the creators of these machines. The machines themselves separate the water from the oil safely and without harming wildlife; yet according to Costner they sat unused for days awaiting for boats to pick them up and actually put them to use.
BP, instead, decided to go with a large group of fishermen and the such. Inexperienced about oil cleanup, and hampering the end result more then they were helping. Costner's plan takes only 190 of the machines and efficiently separates the oil and water, along with harsh chemicals contained in the mix.
Costner also believes that the oil companies should be paying for the clean up, not taxpayers. So what are we waiting for, Congress? We've got Kevin Costner being the hero again and this time he's not even on screen!

Post a CommentIf recent reports are true, Costner is no hero to a couple of his business partners who he seems to have deceived in order to buy them out on the cheap. Good reporting!
