Kevin Federline:Then And Now

Getting to the Heart of the World's Most Famous Soon-To-Be Ex-Husband

Kevin Federline, soon-to-be ex-husband of singer Britney Spears, has achieved modest fame as this decade's Vanilla Ice, and has shone as a role model beyond compare to kept men the world over. But who is the real Kevin? What are his thoughts? What are his dreams?

Kevin's roots lie in the Fresno area. Growing up in a small rural town, he had big dreams - dreams that were larger than his modest environs would allow. The ambitious young Kevin packed his bags and headed for Los Angeles, to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

He quickly landed a job as a pizza delivery boy, a career move that was a sign of menial things to come. Being remarkably flexible, Kevin was also able to find work as a background dancer, lending his "dope" moves to the live shows of pop acts like Pink, Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake. He eventually danced his way into the life of Shar Jackson, an actress known for her appearances on the series Moesha. Kevin and Jackson got engaged, and she bore two of his children.

Everything changed in 2004. That was the year Kevin met superstar singer/trailer trash icon Britney Spears at the Hollywood nightclub/restaurant Joseph's Cafe. It was lust at first sight for the pair. Sensing that a remarkable opportunity had literally landed on his beer-sodden lap, Kevin promptly kicked Jackson to the curb, and he and Spears were married that fall.

Spears was famous. Kevin was... well, a former pizza delivery boy. The media jumped on this disparity in the new couple's success, and Kevin found himself in the spotlight's glare. The paparazzi covered every move made by him and his new wife. He quickly became the punch line to a string of jokes, and found himself parodied in skits on the Internet and on TV shows such as Saturday Night Live. The couple's fame hit its peak with the launch of their reality TV show Chaotic, which found them sharing some of their most intimate moments with the world. In late 2005, he and Spears had their first child, a boy they named Sean Preston. A second child, Jayden James, followed in 2006.

With Spears, Kevin had landed the golden goose, but it wasn't enough; the ambitious young boy toy was determined to make a living of his own. He wanted to be a bona fide star. He wanted to be a rapper.

Kevin recorded an album, Playing With Fire, which was released in October 2006. The album was roundly panned by critics, and debuted at at a lowly 151 on the Billboard album chart after selling less than 7,000 copies.

After this embarrassing flop, it seemed as if things couldn't get much worse for Kevin, but they did. In early November, Spears filed for divorce, and sued for sole custody of their two children.

What's next for the virile young dancer with stars in his eyes? Is there another meal ticket in his future? Or will he be forced to fall back on his pizza delivery skills to make a living? I don't know what the future holds, but I'm sure Kevin will land on his feet. That's what dancers do.
