Kevin Garnett: Not Ready for the Playoffs?

Ouch. After weeks of time on the bench, hoping to make it back in time for the first round of the NBA Playoffs, it looks like Boston Celtics PF Kevin Garnett won't be ready; in fact, he may be done for the rest of the season.

"He's not going to be ready," Celtics head coach Doc Rivers said in an interview on WEEI Thursday morning. "After watching him practice, there's no way."

Any Celtics fan hoping that a 100% healthy Celtics team would mean another championship, might have to reconsider their logic.

"We're going to move on without him," Rivers said.

Although Doc Rivers was mum about the impact of the loss, to say that the reigning champion Boston Celtics are hurt by the loss is an understatement. "Devastated" might put it more aptly.

The Celtics were an impressive 44-13 with Garnett. Although the Celtics garnered an 18-7 record in KG's absence, they were strongly looking forward to his defensive presence in the playoffs; the Celtics allowed an average of 8 points per game more without Garnett than they did with him.

Without Garnett, the Celtics failed to secure home-court advantage in the playoffs; advantage which proved crucial last season, when the Celtics struggled away from home throughout the playoffs.

The Celtics start their best-of-seven series at home against the 7th-seeded Chicago Bulls on Saturday.

The Celtics are at a big loss without K.G. for the playoffs. I don't think the Celtics can beat the Lakers or the Cavaliers this year.
