Kevin Trudeau's Suggested "Cure" for Diabetes
A Look at Metformin for Type II Diabetes in Comparison to Recommended Natural Remedies
The first book was a huge disappointment. I was only interested in what was suggested for diabetes and to my dismay after flipping to the list of cures and locating diabetes on the list, what I read was and I'm quoting this straight from the book, "Candida cleanse; liver/gallbladder cleanse; eliminate all nonprescription and prescription drugs; exercise; digestive enzymes; raw apple cider vinegar; a combination of herbs researched at the University of Calgary for over twenty years, called by the Asian Diabetic Association the final cure for diabetes. I am forbidden by the Federal Trade Commission to mention the product by brand name; however, the person I interviewed who told me about this was Dr. Yung Su Kim, a Korean living in Canada. Also most of the licensed health-care practitioners that I recommend are fully aware of this product. The FTC did concede that I can recommend you to a licensed health-care practitioner. Please go to the end of this book for my recommended licensed health-care practitioners."
Well great, I thought, that doesn't help much. There is a specific brand name cure but you can't tell me what it is. That was too much. Not only that, but it did not suggest how much exercise or raw apple cider vinegar I needed. No way was this going to convince me to give up my prescription drug.
I began to go through the rest of the book, becoming madder and madder by the minute. I thought I was going to read about natural cures for diseases and instead I read hundreds of pages on how corrupt our government is and how the drug companies want us all to stay sick and about a million reasons why Kevin Trudeau thinks we should trust him. I wanted health-related information. I thought that's what I was getting. This wasn't even close. The final insult to my intelligence was the mention that if you practice Scientology, you will be healthier. Forget it!!! I'm not that dumb, I never will be. The day I give up God for some alien named Xenu or whatever the heck that name's supposed to be is the day I tear off my own head and bowl a perfect game with it. I don't care what Kevin Trudeau or John Travolta or Tom Cruise have to say about it.
On to the next book because I gave up on the first. And, this is where I will try to get on track. Now we are looking at "More Natural "Cures" Revealed: Previously Censored Brand Name Products that Cure Disease." Well, thank goodness!!! Luckily, I got both books together. Now I was going to find my cure.
At this point, it should be known that I take a low dose of Metformin once a day. Prior to this, an average sugar reading for me would run between 275-325. I tried to diet, but realized how difficult it was to be as strict as I needed to be with what I ate, so I broke down and asked the doctor to prescribe something to help me. The very first day I took this medicine, my after dinner reading was around 140. For me that was unheard of. Now, I average 100-150 on a regular basis.
Even though these readings are great, the thought of being on a prescription drug my whole life tends to depress me. Also, I firmly believe in natural products. After being diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome and being told children were not in my picture, I did become pregnant. This was after starting on a certain herb that I'd heard was good for thinning hair. Turned out, it also regulated my menstrual cycles and to this day I credit my daughter to that herb. I guess the point of this paragraph is the fact that I believe they can help and I looked forward to trying whatever was suggested in the book.
So, lets look at the suggested cures. In the second book, the cures are listed via websites. I'm not going to go through all of them. I'm going to pick a few and let you come to your own conclusion.
The first website I'm going to give you is www.herbal-powers.com. This is listed under Asian Herbal Cure, Tongkat Ali. Do not go there looking for your diabetic cure. This is what you will read and I am quoting the website: "There is no documented natural cure for diabetes, but Herbal-Powers.com has diabetes information and supplements that have helped people feel better." ..... I don't know what to make of this one. These people are saying there is no natural cure for diabetes and yet they are listed in the book as offering a product with a cure? I must be missing something.
The second site I'm going to go over is www.realfoodnutrients.com. They offer what's called the WSN Diabetic Pack. This one sounded good. An average blood sugar level drop of 31.9%. Higher energy, weight loss, and lower cholesterol are just a few of the benefits that are listed for this product. The kicker on this one is going to be the price. You could've knocked me over with a feather. A 30 day supply is on sale for $74.70. Original price is $107.70. Yikes! For a natural cure made up of herbs. I can get any herb at WalMart for less than $10. My Metformin wasn't nearly that much when I wasn't covered by a prescription plan. It was more like $40 for right around 60 pills, which actually for me, was two months worth.
The third I'm going to point out is www.alternativehealthsecrets.com. The diabetic product is Diamaxol. It was originally called Diabeticine. This one is made of Bitter Melon, Cinnamon, Gymnema Sylvestre, Huckleberry, Chromium, Zinc, and Biotin. These folks are guaranteeing you a 50 point drop in your sugar level in 30 days or their product is free. My first thought was, big deal. This may be appealing to the borderline diabetics, but for someone who has full-blown type II diabetes, this really isn't impressive. Remember my previous numbers? 275-325? Let's go with 250 just for an average. So, within 30 days, a solid month, this product will take me to a 200 reading. I'll tell you, I can't see where this will do me much good. And, again the cost is crazy. One month supply is $74.95. Again, for herbs. I don't get it.
One of the major arguments in the books is the fact that the big drug companies are all about the "money" and their drugs are expensive. These natural remedies aren't exactly cheap and for the amount of money I now spend for my prescription drug is significantly lower. (I now pay $8 through a plan.) How are we going to say these herb companies aren't all about the "money"? Seems to me, at least in regard to the ones listed in the book, they may be a little greedy too. Because I promise you, these natural ingredients, that these companies likely aren't paying people to test, are not costing that kind of money to produce.
One other problem I have is that these remedies are listed as "cures." To me, a cure is something that will fix it forever, once and for all, end of story. Seems, staying on any pill, even an herbal supplement is simply treatment and not a cure.
I'm not sure what I expected from these books. Maybe natural "cures?"
Just for fun, lets go over the chapters... I'll stick to the second book. (otherwise, I'd be here all day.)
1. How to use this book. (Cause I would never think to read it.)
2. An offer I couldn't refuse. (Don't know what this has to do with natural cures.)
3. Read this or they'll kill me. (What!?!?)
4. Trust me, I'm not a doctor. (Okay)
5. The health basics. (This one is a tease. You think you're getting into the stuff you bought the book for, but what you're really about to read is a bunch of FTC bashing and Mr. Trudeau's many positions.)
6. Fighting back! (Actually seems to be useful information in this one, although it's hard to believe the sun will cure everything.)
7. How governments around the world con you. (We are officially back off topic)
8. The insider secrets they don't want you to know. (This is a lot of horn tooting on when, where, and how the book has been discussed. Also, something about an assassination..... I have no clue.)
9. Weight loss secrets. (Almost seven pages worth of diet tips I already knew.)
10. Other people who back me up. (Don't know why this one is necessary and don't really care.)
11. Stay away from these products. (Those pesky antibiotics. What was my dentist thinking?)
12. The only source of unbiased health information. (Promoting his website you can pay to be a member of.)
13. The uncensored, original, infamous "chapter six." (A detailed list of how to become healthy. Become a scientologist is one of them.)
14. More natural "cures" previously censored by the U.S. government. (A list of diseases and mostly websites that sell overpriced herbs to help them.)
15. Additional companies, products, and resources for natural "cures." (A long list of websites pushing health products, but he doesn't get anything for promoting them. At least, that's what he said.)
16. Winning the war. (The one in Iraq?)
By the way, I'm not a doctor, lawyer, politician, or nun. I am of no importance and these are simply my thoughts and opinions. I truly believe in natural "treatments" and lose all the garbage and this could've been a great book. As is, it's simply ridiculous. It's the only word I can come up with.
