Key West, Florida is a magical place. It has Florida's amazing weather, beautiful blue green waters, and a number of delightful historic inns, cottages, and bed and breakfast accomodations.

The Key Lime Inn is one of Key West Florida's historic Inns. It is located just minutes from shops, restaurants, bars, and water sports activities. It is 2 blocks from the world famous Duval Street. I stayed at the Key Lime Inn in January and was not dissapointed.

The Key Lime Inn was not difficult to find. We took the four hour drive from Miami to Key West. Much of the drive is Hwy 1. The Key Lime Inn is located just off of Hwy 1, so you just keep driving into the city. At that point, it turns into Truman Avenue. Therefore the official address of the Key Lime Inn is 725 Truman Avenue.
The Inn does have a small gravel parking lot, unlike many of the other inns. We were lucky to grab the last spot. I recommend not using your car much while staying in Key West, as parking is scarce. There is a main building which is key lime in color and easily recognizable as the check in building. You check in and then proceed to either a small cottage or the Maloney House, which has several rooms. Our room was in the building on the first floor, with a nice patio area with two chairs and a small table. This is called the Deluxe King Room. We had a king sized four poster bed, safe, television, mini refridgerator, hair dryer, alarm clock, in room table/chairs, stall shower, ironing board/iron, television, and coffee pot. This room was plenty spacious and comfortable. The Superior Queen rooms have all of the same ammenities but are usually located in small cottages and do not have the patio chairs/table. The Standard Queen rooms are the value priced rooms. They have a queen sized bed, safe, shower stall, television, hairdryer, and alarm clock.

Located directly behind the main check in building is the Key Lime Inn pool area. The pool is clean and comfortable. It has a nice ledge around it for resting in the pool. Several chairs and tables surround the area. Every morning the Key Lime Inn features a free continental breakfast right next to the pool. They have yogurt, english muffins, pastries, muffins, toast, apples, tea, orange juice and coffee. It is served from 8:30 am to 10:30 am each morning.

The grounds of the Key Lime Inn are landscaped beautifully with trees and flowers. The path around buildings and cottages is dirt or mulch. There is a pop machine on the grounds and also a hammock. The Key Lime Inn is, for the most part, very quaint and quiet. It is not a big box resort, it's a small historic Inn. Historic buildings originally date from 1854 to 1949. They completed renovations in 1999. The only complaint I had about this Inn could be found at most other inns in Key West. Roosters run wild on the island, and they will crow all day long. My first morning there they woke me up at about 5 a.m., out of a very deep sleep!
