Key Quest Mini Games on Neopets

As I mentioned in my first article about Key Quest, the game itself has a variety of "mini-games" that can be activated by landing on a game square or playing a mini-game "power up". The game that will load is randomly selected. These games are also multi-player and each player competes to complete the game before anyone else. The prize for winning a mini-game varies from your choice of a key or one of three random power ups. As I also mentioned the speed of your computer and internet connection can weigh greatly on the ability to win the mini-game. The mini-games are also what can lock up and disconnect your computer the most.

Daring Dig: You use your "Zomutt" to dig from the top of the screen to the bottom collecting gems as you go. Reaching the bottom the fastest with the most gems determines the winner. Computer speed helps.

Spyder Scare: Using your "Spyder", drop from the top of the screen down to collect various nuts and orbs. The white orbs will speed your "Spyder" up and the purple will freeze your opponent. The most items collected determines the winner. Computer speed helps.

Faerie Labyrinth: Move your "Faellie" through a small maze, break down the door by clicking multiple times with your mouse or arrow key and continue to the treasure chest. The fastest player to the treasure chest wins. Computer speed greatly helps.

Petpet Pamper: Use your garden hose to wash the mud off of the "Meowclops". As the "Meowclops" moves you must move your hose to continue removing the mud. Computer speed greatly helps.

Petpetpet Snare: You must draw circles around the petpetpets to remove them from the game. Be careful to watch to see which type of three petpetpets is highlighted as the correct one to remove first. Removing the most wins the game. Computer speed helps but I can sometimes do well with this one.

Nova Match: You click on sets of two matching "Novas" or stars to remove them from the game. Computer speed greatly helps here and I have found this particular game to be the one that freezes and disconnects me the most. In general if this game starts I do not bother to click on any of the stars, I won't win but this tends to keep me from disconnecting.

Poogle Carnival Race: This is a game of "throwing" darts at a dartboard to move your "Poogle" to the finish line. Click and drag on the arrow to aim your darts. The more you hit the bull's-eye the more points you win for the game. I have been able to do well on this game even with a slower computer.

Neogarden Grow: You use your watering can to water four seedlings and then use your garden cutters to cut the blooms off when they have fully grown. You must water each seedling twice for it to grow. The trick I have learned with this is if you properly position your watering can you can water two seedlings at once. This is a bit of trial and error but with practice you can get the two on the right and then the two on the left with only four watering rounds instead of eight. Computer speed does play a large part but with this trick I have been able to do well on this game.

Flower Frenzy. As of the date of this article, 2-26-2009, this game seems to have a glitch. You are supposed to match a sequence of flowers by clicking on them to repeat the pattern that you are shown. At this time it seems that if you just click repeatedly on the first flower you earn your points. This will most likely be fixed soon. Computer speed is a definite plus when the game is working correctly.

Fruit Picker: You use your garden cutters to cut fruit from a tree and have it land in your basket. Unfortunately as of this writing date I have only played this mini-game twice. While computer speed seemed to be a factor it was not impossible to win with a slower computer.
