On a week long vacation to Key West over New Years 2006 we tried many different restaurants and other than the night life I have to say this was probably my favorite part of Key West. They have a much diversified cuisine due to influence from Cuba, only 90 miles away and the various Caribbean islands not too far as well. I loved the cuisine and here are some of my favorite restaurants we visited during our stay:
1) Blue Heaven - We went here for breakfast after tons of recommendations from our hotel concierge and other people we know that have visited the island. They have an absolutely delicious breakfast. You sit outside and eat in true Caribbean Key West style. Watch out for the birds there is no cover over you or your food and I had the privilege of a not so lovely encounter on my arm! The cuisine was still delicious I was on vacation nothing was upsetting me! Check out their website: http://blueheavenkw.homestead.com/Blue_Heaven_Restaurant_Key_West.html.
They are located at 729 Thomas St. Key West, Florida 33040.
2) La Trattoria - This is delicious Italian restaurant we ate here for dinner on New Years Eve. I had the all you can eat Ravioli with Bolognese sauce it was delicious. It is very quaint and romantic right on Duval Street. Here is their website http://www.latrattoria.us/. Their address is 524 Duval Street, Key West Florida 33040.
3) El Meson De Pepe - This was the very first restaurant we ate at in Key West and it was by far my favorite. It is Cuban cuisine something I had never had before and it was such a great experience. I ordered the Pechuga de Pollo a la Plancha simply chicken breast grilled with parsley, olive oil and garlic. It came with plantains and black beans and rice. We also each ordered a mojito to start our trip out with a bang. The food was delicious on and my next visit to Key West this will be my first stop again. Check out their website at http://www.elmesondepepe.com/. They are located at 410 Wall Street, Mallory Square, Key West Florida 33040.
4) Upper Crust Pizzeria - This was a pizzeria right in the heart of Duval Street and their pizza is to die for. I love pizza and am quite the connoisseur so believe me when I tell you this was mouth-watering. We ordered a pizza with everything on it and loved it. I would go back here in a heart beat as well. Check out their website http://www.uppercrustkeywest.com/. They are located at 611 Duval Street, Key West 33040.
5) Two Friends Patio Restaurant - This is a wonderful little restaurant set back off of Duval Street near Mallory square which specializes in local seafood. My favorite part was the open air patio it was perfect for dinner the perfect visual I always had of our dining experiences in Key West. Laid back and delicious if you are looking for some great local seafood give it a try and be sure to sit out on the patio!! http://www.twofriendskeywest.com/. They are located at 512 Front Street, Key West Florida 33040.
These are my picks for the best Key West has to offer in cuisine. Check them out bon appetite!!

Post a CommentGreat article. I am obsessed with Key West and can't wait to go back. The only place I've been to of the restaurants in your article is El Meson de Pepe. I agree, it was fantastic! I will have to check out the other places. I've been told Blue Heavan is amazing and the local seafood place sounds great too.
