Recovery from LASIK eye surgery is quite rapid and within a couple of days after the procedure people will begin to return to their normal lives except, of course without needing to use eyewear or corrective lenses. In fact ,after lasik most people report actually having better vision then they had wearing corrective lenses.
The most important thing to make sure you have a smooth recovery process is to keep your fingers and other sources of infection out of your eyes. This sounds easier than turns out to be, because we are creatures of habit and you don't realize how often you touch your own eyes. This gets very bad for a minority of patients. You're forced to wear eye protectors to help keep control of little subconscious ticks. This also helps from keeping particles out of your eyes, and keeps you from rubbing your eyes while you're sleeping.
Immediately after the LASIK eye surgery, you will be asked to avoid any type of activity that could result in touching, rubbing, or poking of the eyes. You will have to spend the first couple of hours after the eye surgery in the clinic. You will be advised to rest, and you'll have to keep your eyes closed and rested as much as possible during this time. You will also be given a protective mask that keeps you from being able to rub your eyes during sleep.
It's common for patients to have extreme dryness, and discomfort after LASIK. LASIK eye centers will be able to give you eye drops that will be able to treat this discomfort. They also help when you return to reading, watching TV, using a computer screen, and other eye drying activity. You will also be prescribed some medications to help keep your eyes hydrated during the healing process.
With such a low complication rate from LASIK eye surgery and having such dramatic results. LASIK is definitely a way for anyone to improve their vision with the lowest amount of complications or annoyance.
