The first single off of A Different Me is Playa Cardz Right featuring the late great Tupac Shakur. The song is produced by Ron Fair and Carvin & Ivan. The track was originally featured on Tupac's 2006 album Pac's Life.
Oh-Oh, Yeah-Yeah features rap superstar Nas. The track features an early 1990's vibe to it with the production, writing and melody feeling from a different time. Nas delivers a strong verse which only adds to the track.
No Other is one of the catchiest tracks on the album and is vintage Keyshia Cole. Her vocal delivery and the strong chorus work well together.
You Complete Me is a solid mid-tempo track. The song will probably be a single down the road as it is the kind of song that Keyshia has popularized as an artist.
Make Me Over is another vintage sounding song. The track sounds like a mix between the 1920's and the 1970's. The track is produced by Polow Da Don and it just sounds very similar to Christina Aguilera's vibe on Back To Basics.
Please Don't Stop has a decidedly 1980's feel to it. The track is much more energetic and bouncier than tracks that we have come to expect from Keyshia.
I Thought You Should Know is another track that features a very 1980's influence with the drum programming and vocal harmonies.
Brand New is a Minnie Riperton styled ballad. The song is one of the brightest spots on the album and Keyshia's vocal delivery on the track works extremely well.
Erotic is another track with a decidedly 1980's feel. The bass line in particular take you back to that era in time.
Trust is a fairly solid mid-tempo ballad. The song is not one of the strongest tracks on the album but is passable as album filler.
Where This Love Could End Up is another track that returns Keyshia to her roots as an artist instead of changing her style.
This Is Us is the generic type of song you hear from artists like The Pussycat Dolls. Hearing Keyshia perform a song like this just does not seem right.
Overall A Different Me is not Keyshia Cole's strongest effort as an artist. There are too many varying genres and styles to make it a coherent effort. Overall A Different Me gets 7.5 out of 10. If you are a fan of Keyshia Cole make sure you pick up A Different Me when it is available in stores on December 16th.

Post a CommentI disagree with your last paragraph in this article. I LOVE A Different Me and I think it was good for Keyshia to change up her style a bit. And I definitely like the song This Is Us. But all people don't view music the same, because I think the whole album is HOT! Be on the lookout for my article rating / reviewing the album...
