Kick Those Crow's Feet to the Curb!

One of the most obvious signs of aging can be the development of crow's feet around the eyes. Whether they appear on their own or only when you are smiling, crow's feet are normally unwelcome and can send you on a mad search for the nearest Botox provider. While injectables are a quick and sure way to get rid of those pesky lines at the corners of our eyes, there are other ways to diminish them that are much more affordable and less invasive.

So, what exactly causes crow's feet? There are several reasons but the main ones are that, with age, the skin around our eyes starts to lose its elasticity, moisture and collagen. Drinking plenty of water and eating foods high in essential fatty acids such as salmon, nuts and avocados will naturally aid your skin in retaining and regaining moisture from the inside out. This will naturally give your skin a plumping effect and help smooth out fine lines around your eyes.

Using a highly emollient eye cream is also essential for keeping crow's feet and other fine lines around the eyes at bay. Most dermatologists and estheticians recommend using an eye cream that contains peptides, hyaluronic acid and retinoids. These ingredients help to smooth out lines, plump up the skin and erase light damage from overexposure to the sun.

Scientific studies have shown that peptides can kick start sluggish collagen production as well as repair damaged capillaries while retinoids speed cell turnover and are also known for speeding collagen production, and hyaluronic acid has amazing hydrating properties. Using an eye cream with these ingredients can diminish existing lines as well as inhibit new ones from forming.

Along with a healthy diet and using the right eye creams, another way to ensure that crow's feet don't rear their ugly heads is to know how to hide what little lines you may have with make-up. A little make-up knowledge can go a long way to cover up imperfections and crow's feet are no exception. After washing your face and applying moisturizer around the eyes, make sure to use an age defying primer in order to smooth out the eye area and keep your make-up from creasing. Once the primer is dry, dab some concealer gently around your eyes. The best shade of concealer to hide fine lines is one shade lighter then your natural skin color, and a concealer that comes with light reflective properties is always best as that will brighten your eyes and give them a youthful, natural looking glow.

While deep crow's feet will most certainly best benefit from any number of injectables, if your crow's feet are not severe there are some wonderful and effective ways of lessening their appearance with diet, moisture and cosmetics. Taking years off of your age by making those annoying laugh lines away from the corners of your eyes is not only possible but definitely affordable.
