01 - Paul McDonald - I don't know but I'm tired of watching Paul. Tonight he didn't impress me, and I thought his suit would be better in a Wax Musuem on a statue of Rod Stewart or Elton John rather than on the stage. Because he was moving around in that suit it just seemed too much for me to bear. His sexy soloist saxophonist actually in my opinion, was the highlight of his act.
02- Lauren Alaina did a wonderful job on Miley Cyrus's song though some of her notes maxed out and didn't play to the at home audience so I am not sure 100% that she was on pitch but I imagine she was. She is remarkable for a 16 year old and I think has a legacy in her future.
03 - Stefano Lagone - I think he overs ings. The judges were kind to him and maybe there is a place for him in his own niche.
04- Scotty McCreery chose to do a country song and I was disappointed with his song choice, but I am almost never disappointed in his singing. I love his deep baritone voice but I would like to hear him do some songs I know, since I rarely listen to country.
05- My favorite tonight was Casey Abrams. He got his haircut and trimmed his beard, and wore a searsucker or tweed blazer that matched his pants. He had on a white collared shirt and I couldn't help but think that he is changing, but in a good way. He is showing a sophisticated side to his personality - that is starting to match his ability to perform a Grammy award rendition of Nat King Cole's Nature Boy tonight. It gave me shivers to hear this wonderful, very special performance.
06- Haley was praised for doing a great job last week. She was a slow start and she didn't come with all her stuff in the last few weeks, but she is feeling like she is growing as an artists. The experience of meeting all these producers has helped in a tremendous ways. It is crazy to think there are only 2 girls out of the 8. I decided to go with Call Me, by Blondie. Debrah Harry.
I didn't think this was Haley's best song. a little karaoke I thought. Part of Haley's problem is that she is trying to be like somebody else instead of herself. It is not easy coming into your own. I'm probably just about getting there and I'm 46.
07 - Jacob Lusk nailed it with his song choice tonight doing A Bridge Over Troubled Waters. Jacob has learned to hold back a little and build some dynamics.
08 - James Durbin wanted to do a heavy metal song called Heavy Metal, by Van Halen against the producers wishes. James plead, "Come on America. Give metal a chance." Zac Wylde accompanied him on the stage and did several ripping solo's. James kicked the notes and slammed the timing. He has done some cool shit meeting Hulk Hogan and now he has jammed with Zac Wyle. They got a standing ovation and people were screaming.
This year's contestants are all very talented. I am amazed at the performances and keep thinking this show really gives people a shot at the American dream.

Post a CommentI don't watch but enjoyed the recap.
hmmmmmmm, I think Stefano, Haley and Jacob will be in the bottom three (tho' I'm hoping Haley will come into her own, I love her voice!!!), and I'm afraid to say that I think Stefano may never get the 'performance' part down even tho' his voice is great, he may be the next to go...
I agree....loved Casey's performance. I think Michele is right....it could be Haley's time to go.
Haley is definitely in the bottom 3 - I just don't know who the other 2 will be! Good recap, cheers :)
