Kid Rock Mocks Steven Tyler for "American Idol"Gig: Jealous or Seeking Publicity for New Album "Born Free"

Julia Bodeeb
"American Idol" has an exciting new season. Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez are the new judges. They are divas of the music industry. It will be fascinating to see how the show progresses with these two icons of music at the helm of judging the contestants.

What an honor it is for any contestant to appear on "American Idol" and get to see Lopez and Tyler up close. The new judges add an air or modernity to the show. They are still actively involved in music and still wildly popular. It is a real coo for American Idol to snare Lopez and Tyler as judges. Whatever outrageous amount they are earning as judges they are worth it.

Kid Rock: Loud and Jealous

Kid Rock isn't holding back his opinion about Tyler's judging gig on "American Idol." He said Tyler joining the show was "the stupidest thing he's ever done in his life. He's a sacred American institution of rock n' roll, and he just threw it all out the window. Just stomped on it and set it on fire."

First of all, Kid Rock should try to achieve the level of success Tyler has had before giving him unsolicited advice. Secondly, Kid Rock and Steven Tyler are of different ages and different stages in life.

Steven Tyler: 62 and a Mentor

Steven Tyler is age 62 now. He's been a rock and roll star for a long time. Perhaps he wants to give back to a new generation now by sharing his knowledge about music and the recording industry. MTV reports that Tyler said "It's being a part of something much bigger than yourself."

Bravo to Steven Tyler for taking the gig at "American Idol." He brings a true star presence to the show. What an amazing experience for all of the contestants to get advice from two such different singers such as Tyler and Lopez.

New Adventures are Always Fun

Kid Rock cannot know what Tyler's priorities are. Everyone is allowed to retire eventually and have some new adventures in life. The Los Angeles Times notes that Tyler replied to Kid Rock's comments by saying "He's just jealous... And he's working his new record, so God bless him."

Perhaps Kid Rock is just trying to drum up publicity for his new album "Born Free." After all, Kid Rock isn't getting any younger himself. He knows he may be starting to lose the wild man of country role he's held for a while. He's just reaching out and stirring up some muck to try to get the media to focus on him and his new album.

Zip It Kid Rock!

Kid Rock needs to snap open a can of beer, chill, and mind his own business. Cause Tyler is "Born Free" too and he can do whatever he wants.

"American Idol" Contestants: "Dream On"

And for now the contestants to American Idol are probably humming the lyrics to Aerosmith's song "Dream On.." The lyrics have many lessons to teach new singers:

"Dream On"

"Half my life

Is in books' written pages

Lived and learned from fools and

From sages

You know it's true

All the things come back to you."

Which Contestant Will Win "American Idol"

And for whoever wins "American Idol" this year, Tyler's lyrics to the song "Rockin' On Top of the World" will have a special significance. American Idol helps singer make their dreams come true.

Which contestant will be on top of the world this year? Tyler's lyrics sum up the joy of life.

"Rockin' on top of the world

Rockin' on top of the world

The place is hoppin'... there ain't no stoppin'

Rocking on top of the world

Blow your horn and swing that girl

Rockin' on top of the world tonight... yeah."

I knew there was a reason why I couldn't stand Kid "Crock"...aside from his crappy voice! Right on, Claire!

    I agree with Claire...

Such ego problem some of these stars have. Good one.

While I totally agree with your assertion that Tyler can do what he wants and KR is a blowhard, American Idol has kind of become a popularity with tweens (who do alot of the voting) as much as a showcase of real talent. Tyler did damage his rock cred there...but again, he can do what he wants, more power to him...

kid rock is not cool enough to say that about Tyler....i agree with Kristie...simon cowell, tho, will be missed...

In what parallel universe does Jennifer Lopez so much as remotely resemble an "icon of music"?
