Kid-Friendly Airports - Things to Do with Your Child If You Have a Layover

The new airports are very similar to upscale mini-malls. Many airports cater to travelers with children, offering everything from play centers, to child friend exhibits. Atlanta's International Airport is one of the largest airports in the world. Planes from all over the world fly in to and out of this airport. They have a child area filled with puppets displayed for children of all ages.

A smaller airport like the Mobile Regional Airport has an Art Village and Art Show for the enjoyment of children. There are shops to purchase gifts for the children or for the children to purchase for others. The Boston Children's Museum designed a play time area for children in the Boston airport. Traveling with children does not have to be the dreaded trip experienced by many long ago.

Airplane sculptures are hanging all over the Denver Airport for the little ones to enjoy. Their little eyes are in constant wonder while traveling through this airport. Spending time with your child, talking about the many different airplanes is a great way to spend time between flights. Many airports now have art collections throughout the mall areas of the various terminals and entrance. You may spend time exploring everything from the History of Air Flight to Western Art of the Southwest in the various airports as you travel. When a flight layover causes you and your child to have time on your hands in the airport, finding one of the many exhibits is a great way to spend time together. You can spend a good portion of your layover learning something new.

San Francisco has a child friendly airport. The rotating exhibits are a great addition to the various terminals at the airport. They also have the fabulous aquariums where children can learn about the many different kinds of ocean life. Phoenix, Arizona has regional artwork and at various times, they even have art specifically done by local school children on display in the airport.

I don't want to leave out the luggage sculpture at the Sacramento, California Airport. Children are fascinated with all of the suitcases. Having a layover and spending time in many of the modern airports is almost a treat instead of a dreaded unwelcomed chore. You may want to do your homework before you leave home to find out what jewels await you at the airports you will be using on your next trip. Enjoy the time with your child and make the various airports a part of your vacation plans.
