These comic strip bookmarks make cute little gifts that kids can make and give to their friends, family members or teachers. They are quick and easy to do. A great tip is to plan to do a whole bunch at once, because making them goes very quickly. If you have several children you may also wish to have your children write their names on their comic strip bookmarks before they get laminated so there are no disagreements over whose bookmarks are whose. These little bookmarks may encourage your children to enjoy reading more, and they are a fun way for them to enjoy their comics.
You can use colored construction paper but you can also use gift wrapping paper. Gift wrapping paper looks very pretty because it has such pretty patterns. It is just thinner and may be a little more challenging for a child to cut. So offer them some assistance if you decide to use gift wrapping paper instead of colored construction paper.
To make this craft you will need:
comic strips of your choice
colored construction paper
glue stick
scissors
access to a copy center that does lamination
hole punch
ribbon
Begin this craft by cutting out the comic strip you wish to create a bookmark out of. Ideally your comic strip is long and thin. The square, one box comics or cartoons are a little more challenging to make a bookmark out of.
Take the construction paper and measure the comic strip against it. Cut the construction paper to be slightly larger than the comic strip, so that the construction paper will frame the comic strip. Once you have cut the comic strip, then glue it to the construction paper with the glue stick.
Now take the comic strip bookmark to the copy center for laminating. Laminating should be relatively inexpensive. The copy center I go to will laminate a 8 x 14 inch piece of paper for about two dollars. If you plan ahead and make a whole bunch of bookmarks, this is actually your best bet because then you can get them all laminated at once.
After the comic strip bookmark has been laminated, cut it out and hole punch the top for the ribbon to go through. Then put the ribbon through so that the ribbon has been doubled and the two tails hang out from the bookmark. Tie a knot. Your bookmark is complete.
