Kid's Craft Project - How to Decoupage Sneakers
Kid's Will Have a Blast Creating Their One of a Kind Decoupaged Sneakers
Materials:
canvas sneakers
tissue paper (various colors)
outdoor mod podge (decoupage glue)
foam brush
colored shoe laces (optional)
Directions:
Prepare the work surface where the kid's will be crafting their decoupage shoes. You will want to cover the work surface with plastic or newspaper, decoupage crafts can sometimes be a bit messy. Before the kid's can begin making their decoupage sneakers, they will need to prepare their tissue paper. Have them take a wide variety of colored tissue and tear it into irregular shapes. The pieces of tissue paper should be approximately, one inch in size.
Now have them remove the laces from their canvas sneakers and set them aside. Next, the kid's can begin applying the decoupage glue to their canvas sneaker, using the foam brush. They should apply the decoupage glue to one small section and then add a few pieces of tissue paper. Make sure the tissue paper is applied to the canvas only (not on the sides of the rubber sole). The tissue paper can be overlapped, to create combination of colors. Then move to another section and repeat the same step. They will continue this procedure until the entire sneaker is covered.
Once the kid's have finished adding the tissue paper to both sneakers, they will need to add a top coat of decoupage. Make sure that the sneakers are completely covered with the decoupage. Let the decoupage sneakers, dry thoroughly. For added protection and after the first coat has dried, have the kid's apply a final coat of decoupage to their sneakers.
After the decoupage sneakers have dried, completely. The kid's can add their shoe laces. To add more excitement to their decoupage sneakers, replace the white laces with colored ones. Girls could even add a few beads to their laces, for added decoration. The kid's have finished crafting their new decoupage sneakers. Watch how proud they are, wearing their decoupage sneakers!
