Kids Craft: Make a Valentines Card Holder

This is a Great Craft for Your Child's Valentines from School and from Friends

Valentine's Day is coming and children will soon be collecting Valentines from their friends at school and from loved ones. Here is a great Valentines Card holder that they can make in an afternoon to bring to school, or to keep at home to put the Valentines in.

For this craft you will need:

a shoebox with the lid

red, pink and white construction paper

markers or crayons

glitter or glitter pens

scissors

tape

non-toxic glue

pencil

To start this project, lay out newspaper to protect the surface your child is working on. Then take the shoebox and have your child decide what colors they would like their shoebox to be. A great color combination is to have the shoebox be red and white and then to put red and pink hearts on it, but this is just an idea for you to think about. There are so many options. Take a piece of construction paper and measure it to the side of the shoebox without the lid on. Before you cut the lid piece, be sure to cut a long slit in the top of the box for the children to put the Valentines into the box. Then when you cut a piece of construction paper for the box top, remember to cut that piece out as well. Cut all of the pieces of construction paper out. Continue cutting and measuring until you and your child have covered the entire shoebox. If your child is young, they may need some help with this part of the project, especially cutting with scissors. Glue the pieces of construction paper on with the non-toxic glue. Allow the glue to dry on the shoebox before decorating it.

A nice way to decorate the shoebox is to cover it with hearts and to write the child's name and to write "Samantha's Valentines" or "Jonathan's Valentines". You can make this look fancier by writing it and then covering the child's name with glue and then putting glitter over their letters, or by writing with the glitter pen.

Other things to decorate this box include using other Valentines that your child has gotten, paper doily hearts, metallic hearts and gift wrapping paper. You can also write on the sides of the box, write "Happy Valentine's Day" and your child's class and grade level.

The great thing about creating this Valentine holder is that it keeps your child's Valentines organized. You can store them in this holder for the future, so that when your child gets older they can look at their Valentines from the past years and enjoy them for years to come.

Great Idea.I simply throw in a packet of TickleMe Plant seeds with each Holiday greeting Card I mail out. Most people are very surprised they can grow a plant that moves when you tickle it from seeds. The leave rapidly close and even the branches MOVE when tickled. I got the birthday party special so the seed packets were very inexpensive and its the same price as mailing the card itself! I found it on line
