Printable paper dolls are easy to put in a small container and carry around. They make a fun and inexpensive art project. They are great for travel. You can mail them with a card or letter. To make any of the printable paper dolls more sturdy, you can easily print one out on paper, then glue and mount it on thin cardboard, or stiffer paper.

There was even a regular Betsey McCall doll made after the paper doll became popular In McCall's magazine. This site has 10 years of Betsey McCall printable paper dolls from 1951 to 1961. You take the clothes, costumes, shoes, and hair off the hanging rack and dress the interactive paper dolls. Keep in mind, even with the full colour printable paper dolls, you can still print them out in black and white, if you don't have colour cartridges in your printer. Then the children can colour them in themselves. Printable and online paper dolls are a lot of fun, to make. Paper dolls may be simple, but they encourage imagination and creativity.

Post a CommentDoris, have you tried looking at paper dolls on ebay to find something similar to your grandmother's? Sometimes the seller posts useful information like date of publication, printer, etc. Also there are paper doll collectors' books that have useful information (Mary Young is one of the authors.) If you don't want to buy the book, perhaps you could get your public library to borrow one for you to check out on interlibrary loan.

Strange karma- I was just looking up paper dolls online today!
They use to do this in MaCalls many years ago with the paper doll Betsy McCall. Nice to see some old things still around. Keep up the good work.
