Kids Fun Christmas Recipes

Christmas is a great time to get your kids in the kitchen and start cooking! You will enjoy the time you spend together, make treasured memories, and perhaps start new traditions!

Here are recipes your kids can make all on their own (well, with some supervision). They will be proud to serve these tasty treats during your Christmas celebrations.

Reindeer Poop

1 3/4 cups white sugar
1/2-cup milk
1/2-cup butter
4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2-cup crunchy peanut butter
3 cups quick-cooking oats
1-teaspoon vanilla extract

In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, milk, butter, and cocoa. Bring to a boil, and cook for 1 1/2 minutes. To ensure proper timing; start when the mixture reaches a FULL boil. If you undercook it the dough won't set properly, likewise if you over cook it then the dough becomes crumbly. Remove from heat, and stir in peanut butter, oats, and vanilla. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto wax paper and allow the balls to harden. Serve on a platter labeled "Reindeer Poop" and enjoy!

Christmas Wreaths

½ cup butter
30 large marshmallows
1-teaspoon vanilla
4 cups frosted flakes
Green food coloring
Red Hots candies
Wax paper

In a saucepan heat the butter and marshmallows over low heat until the marshmallows are all melted. Add in the vanilla and green food coloring and stir until combined. Now add in the cereal, stirring constantly, one cup at a time. Drop by tablespoons onto waxed paper and (using greased hands, I usually spray our hands will cooking spray for this part, but you can also use butter or Crisco) shape into wreath shapes and press the Red Hots candies around the wreaths.

Snowman Soup

In a small, holiday themed, Ziploc baggie place:
1 package hot coco mix (or if you buy it in the can- enough to make one serving per baggie)
3 Hershey's kisses
10 miniature marshmallows
1 small candy cane

Use a permanent marker to write on the baggie: Snowman Soup, Just Add Water! Place the baggies into a decorative mug for a great gift idea, party favor, or teacher present!
