Kids Items that Are Helpful for Adults

Try not to put such a severe line between you and childhood-- that time still has lessons for you! You still need to get your sleep, brush your teeth, and not hurt others. Here are a few belongings that you may want to get out of your basement and re-embrace.

1. Bubble Bath

Many companies put out luxurious, highly perfumed bubble baths for adults, but really, what's the point in that? You will end up paying too much for a products that really just acts like soap and makes you smell bad. Next time you want to have that great feeling of a bubble back, go to the children's section and seek out good old Mr. Bubble. Or those bottles with the princess on top. They cost less than $2, are sensitive to the skin and nose, and will create more bubbles. After all, these products are made for a child who doesn't care if the main ingredient is some fancy, exotic oil. They want bubbles! And that is, after all, what bubble bath is for.

2. & 3. Hula Hoop; Jump Rope.

These are too very different products, but they preform the same task: a good workout. When you were a child, these were fun, not work, and in a lot of ways, they are more effective than the gym since you had to have a lot of energy to be adept at either tasks. Hula Hoops are good for toning mid sections and thighs. It's very much like learning to belly dance and the results will be the same. Of course, as was the goal when you were a child, there is the extra task of keeping that hoop up on your waist. If you want to impress your friends, become so good that you can spin the hoop around other parts of your body: neck, arms, and ankles.

Then, there is the jump rope. There is a reason why boxers use this tool. It is a great cardio work out, especially when you get fancy and learn tricks.

Both can be bought in a variety of places including the toy store, but a word of advice is to buy a sturdy, relatively heavy rope or hoop. That will make such challenges as keeping the momentum of the rope and hoop up, as well as making the workout more effective.

Glitter optional.

4. Baby Oil

Baby oil is a little invention of awesome. Once again, people will buy more expensive products to mimic the results that can be had with one $3 bottle. Baby oil is good on skin, hair, and faces. Since it is made for children, the product is perfect for more sensitive skins prone to break outs. One great idea for baby oil is to purchase a kind that is lavender scented. This is intended to calm children down, and it will do the same for you. Draw a warm bath with bubbles from your Mr. Bubbles you learned about above, and put a little baby oil in the water. Now, not only will you smell wonderful and have soft skin and hair, but you will be ready for bed.

5. Shel Silverstein Books

If you have never read The Giving Tree as a child, you have had the greatest misfortune. Shel Silverstein is a children's writer and though he may not have the intellectual credit of Proust or the biting cynicism of Twain, his books and poems are equally as great. I personally recommend The Giving Tree and The Missing Piece and the Big O. These novels have a way of capturing the idiosyncrasies of human relationships in a way that is so heartbreaking and optimistic that one wonders if Silverstein really didn't have adults as his ideal main audience. These are perfect to have if you have children, and even if you don't, they may still come in handy for those hard times you need help going through.

6. Finger paints.

There, admittedly, is a much more adult reason for this last item. Many sex stores sell body paints for especially creative times with your lover, but children's finger paints are just as good. Not to mention, they are made with children in mind, so they will be washable on all surfaces AND non-toxic, just in case. It may seem disturbing to use such an innocent toy for such dirty means, but no one said a four year old was allow to have all the fun!
