Shocking as this may be, it is far from being an isolated case. More and more kids kill and then say they just wondered what it would feel like to kill someone. It doesn't seem to stop at boys, girls are committing murder for the same reason.
When I was young, I know I was just a country kid, but I could not stand violence. Even in high school I would cringe at the thought of having to go to a movie that I knew was violent or that had a lot of bloodshed in it. Andrew Conley actually said that killing his brother satisfied a craving like a hamburger does for hunger.
America has lost sight of this problem or it chooses to ignore it. How many of these kids are on prescription drugs that have thoughts of suicide or murder as a side affect? How many of these kids are so barraged by TV violence like the Dexter show that they honestly do not understand that killing someone is a final act?
Instead of worrying about a total revamp of health care, shouldn't we be running more extensive tests on the prescription drugs handed to our kids like candy? If this is turning them into kids that want to kill and kids that have no conscience we have a huge problem on our hands. Is it the violence that is in the music, videos, TV, movies and Internet? Maybe we should honestly study that.
We've taken God out of everything. We have allowed the Lord and Jesus to be ridiculed and mocked and defamed. Kids aren't given as much exposure to God as they are to violence. Who's responsibility is this? Who has turned our kids into humans walking around wanting to kill others "just to know what it feels like?"
Kids killing kids. They are walking the same streets as you are. Kids wanting to know what its like to take someone's life, they are in school with your kids. These aren't such isolated incidences. What are you going to do about it? Does your kid want to know what it feels like to kill someone?

Post a CommentAlso since religion is brought into this already. Did Caine not murder Abel... That's 4 people into our existence and already there is a sibling murder... not a great track record we have it would seem.
This is a tragedy, yes. However this was clearly a disturbed human being. People like this have existed long before dexter, and long before there were movies, songs, and tv shows that had violent content. Watching a TV show is NO excuse for murder, and to put blame on the tv show is ridiculous. There is always going to be people who are dangerous, and disturbed. Changing our media will NOT do a thing to change that.
It's scary, how these things just keep happening. And who does the Law punish? THE PARENTS!!! The kids are not held accountable for their own actions. The LAW poisons the minds and bodies of our children, yet say -- if we don't allow it -- it's "endangerment". "We the people" means nothing. The government is for the government, not "the people". And they don't care what they are doing to us. Or our kids. Yet WE are the ones punished for the GOVERNMENT'S actions. WE pay the consequences of THEIR actions!!!
This is tragic and sad. Dexter, and what about South Park? Kids are now saying they've beat up redheads and Jews because they saw it on South Park. but Dexter takes the cake for violence, and pretty much SHOWS someone how to kill. Ridiculous.
Shocking, isn't it? Such a great report on this news article.
I just don't know what kids are coming from anymore it is absolutely horrendous
evil and cruel world we live in.
This is all too common in todays world. I think that when we allowed children to get away with anything they wanted without any concequences or punishment and we took the punishment away from the parents and families we created these monsters.
I just submitted a story on this too. I was shocked when he described "Like I had to ... like when people have something like they are hungry and there is a hamburger sitting there and they knew they had to have it and I was sitting there and it just happened." I didn't hear about him also saying the same thing Alyssa did, about wanting to see what it felt like to kill. And, I agree, David is so right!
David is right on!
