This past Sunday I took my son to see the Kids 'N Truck show in Rochester, New York. Perhaps more appropriately I should say that I let him take me there for Father's Day. This was actually a fun event and a fun day. The nice thing about such an event is how it is actually geared to many different populations. If such a show comes to your area, I think it is worth going.

It is important that you are feeling well and can handle a lot of noise. Most of the trucks are there for the kids to climb on and honk the horns of the vehicles. Most of the kids absolutely love this. As an adult it is also fun to climb on some of the vehicles (although I do not feel the need to honk the horn).

While the vehicles are not for sale, occasionally you might check out one that you are interested in. For instance, while most of the trucks were trucks for companies, they did have a mobile home there. If anyone who was there was interested in purchasing such a house, it could have been worthwhile.

For those people looking for a job, while spending the day at this show is not the same as going through the newspaper, you may find a company looking to hire. There were Wal-Mart trucks and trucks from local supermarkets. In addition, there were school busses. There were cards next to the school bus with a phone number and address, indicating they were looking for people to drive.

In addition to the trucks, there are some other attractions as well. There was a clown making balloon animals. There was a face painting station as well. In addition, one of the local law firms was there, taking pictures of kids and fingerprinting them so they could hand parents an ID card in the event that the child ever went missing.

Finally, at such a show, there is always the possibility that you may walk away with an unexpected, yet enjoyable memory. For example, my son was in a police car (one of the few non-trucks there), playing with the controls, when the officer who drives that car came up next to him and sat in the passenger seat. He started showing my son all of the gadgets the car had and how they could be used. My son was thrilled to have the officer show him all the features.

As I said before, if you have the opportunity to go to such a show, it is well worth it.
