they travel one by one
one striped one checkered argyle
to have a bit of fun
When socks go out to dinner
they order peanut brittle
with lots of whipped cream topping
and cherries in the middle
When socks go out to dinner
they like to dance and play
to twirl and whirl around the floor
in town on Saturday
When socks go out to dinner
sometimes they get quite loud
and make fun of the nylon socks
that try to join the crowd
When socks go out to dinner
they pay with purple cash
they never use a credit card
for their weekly dinner bash
When socks go out to dinner
and dinner time is done
one by one they travel home
from another night of fun

Post a CommentBonnie, I love your sons way of thinking!! Thanks for the read my friend!
Precious! My son often wore mismatched socks to school. When I'd say "Son your socks don't match", he'd say, "Guess what mom, I've got another pair in my drawer just like these."
This is such a cute poem! It would definitely make a great children's book!
Thank you folks! It was originally an idea for a children's book but I never got around to it. Maybe I'll finish and publish it next year!
