Summertime often means planing pool party for kids. Planning a pool party for children is lots of fun and doesn't have to cost very much. Make sure to have plenty of sunscreen on hand for everyone. You may want to ask your guests to bring their own goggles and towels. Talk to the kids about water safety before they jump in the pool. Make sure adults always keep an eye on the kids. Know which children can swim and who can not.
Make your own pool party invitations
A great idea is to make beach ball invitations. Buy inflatable beach balls from a dollar store or Walmart. Next, blow up all of the beach balls and write the party details on the ball with a Sharpie permanent marker. After you write all the pool part details deflate the beach ball. Now fold the ball and place into a envelope. These invitations turn out very cute and guests have fun blowing them up to see what's written on them.
You could also print your kids pool part invitations on a Summer paper. Craft stores like Michael have a good variety in the scrap book section.
Pool Party food and drinks
You can purchase pool party plates, napkins and tableware from Oriental Trading company here. Your local party store may also have pool party decorations.
A Summer time pool party does not require expensive food to be great. Plan to fire up the grill and make hamburgers and hot dogs. Don't forget veggie burgers if you have any vegetarians coming.
Lets the kids make their own snow cones. Since the party will be outside it's okay if they get messy doing it themselves. Target has some very nice snow cone makers. My favorite is a old fashioned snow cone maker. You can view it here. They also carry much less expensive models.
You can also make kid safe, virgin Pina Coladas.
Put all of your soft drinks, juice boxes and water bottles into a plastic tub filled with ice.
Pool party games and activities
Keep the kids busy by playing a classic game of Marco polo and diving for treasure. You can also but a water basketball game for relatively cheap.
Set up a plastic boat or rubber duck race. Make sure all of the kids win a game and get a prize.
Now is a good time to have a water gun or water balloon fight.
A game of limbo is always fun.
Have the kids make their own flip flops. Simply purchase cheap flip flops and buy embellishments for the kids to glue on.
Pool party goodie bags
Send your guests home with a goodie bag. You can include bubbles, water squirters, beach balls, dive sticks, sunscreen or any summer related activity. You can also purchase pool party goodie bags from Oriental Trading Company. You can view them here
