Bands played on this station include Hannah Montana, The Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift, Avril Lavigne, Rihanna , Good Charlotte, Miley Cyrus, and Ali & AJ. Most of the music is quite good and even a few songs such as Hannah Montana's song Nobody's Perfect and Jesse McCartney's Beautiful Soul are great songs to inspire your teen's life in a positive way.
However in my personal opinion, many of the songs on this station glamorize the type of life that many parents would not want for our children, nor do they want them exposed to it when they are developing their moral beliefs. Blatant consumerism is obvious in some of this music glamorizing the accumulation of things just to have them. Also the concept that money, items, and sex will get you through life is rampant in much of the music on this radio station. What music that doesn't glamorize commercialism is subtly encouraging people who listen to it to engage in activities that probably are not in their best interest if they are tweens or teenagers. However its not just this radio station that has this problem, its most of the media industry as well. If one was paranoid, one might begin to think that the media conglomerate had an agenda that was not stated by the content they promote.
This radio station makes me happy and it makes me angry at the same time. I am happy that radio broadcasters are starting to think of our children's entertainment and at the same time I am angry that they have not taken more care with doing so. Very soon advertising will rear its ugly head on internet radio stations like this and who really wants their children exposed to even more advertising than they already are. It is estimated that the average child has seen twelve thousand commercials by the time they are 18. This in my opinion is insane.
Either way you end up thinking this station is worth listening to, whether you love it and agree with its philosophy, or you hate it and want to know what to look out for to protect your children from unwanted influence.
