But the question is how important are the dribbling skills? Regular drills are the best proposition for the kids to master the art of dribbling. It aids in teaching the kids, the essential movements to play around with the ball. It's the skill of dribbling while maintaining contact with the ball which lets you leave behind several opponents in the play ground.
There are some basic rules to follow and some quality time need to be spent with the ball to be a top dribbler. Kids are taught the skill of using the outside of their foot in kids soccer drills. It is the front side of their instep that kids use very frequently when they dribble the ball at a great speed.
However, to be a good dribbler, ensure that the kids are expert at using the inside and outside of both feet. This helps the kids to retain the ball's control despite the direction from which opponents strike. Like in case of a hockey stick, train them on using their feet's both sides.
Make certain that in soccer drills for kids, they lay their hands on the ball every time they move forward. The ball is tapped keeping it in front while dribbling it. The kids will therefore be able to be in charge of the ball and enhance the dribbling speed along the ball.
This will elude the opponents defending the ball when they attempt to come closer to get it. So initiate step by step and make it certain that kids are increasingly feeling associated with the ball in each step.
Instruct kids in youth soccer drills to keep altering the speed. It is not mandatory that kids should be very quick in dribbling to defeat the opposite team. In fact, make the defender get drowsy for a moment and then make your way through the opponents at high speed.
Guide the kids to constantly keep an eye on the ball. They need to be both aware of the surroundings and maintain focus on the ball while dribbling.
Help them improve upon their weak foot. Include in the soccer drills for youth, the activity of striking the ball against a wall by using the weak foot in order to improve it bit by bit. In the free time encourage the kids to play with the ball. Tell them to sit down, take a ball and use the weaker foot to just roll it back and forth. The more it is done, the more control can be maintained with the ball.
So, you've got it now! The kids soccer drills should train the kids on using their body to save the ball. When in close contact with the defender, make use of the body to shield the ball.
