Kids Vote for President at NickNews.com

Nickelodeon lets your kids pick the issues and the president, since the next four years affects them just as much as it affects you. So, Nickelodeon is giving them a chance to vote. If your teenager wants to learn about the latest news developments, he or she can easily check them out daily at NickNews.com. Each presidential and vice presidential candidate has a biography; personal details such as age, spouse's name, and number of children; and political issues concerning the war in Iraq, war on terror, education, environment, health care and Immigration. All of this information is available for your teenager's viewing pleasure.

On the message board, Nick quotes, "So what if you can't officially vote until you're 18? You can still be a part of the political process right now! Nickelodeon's letting you pick the issues and the president. The next four years are going to be very important... Sound off on politics, presidents, primaries and more, right here! -- The moderator for this board is NickFrog." Sounds like a good idea to me. I'm glad Nickelodeon is allowing kids the chance to voice their opinions. It makes them feel like they're apart of this life-changing event! It also helps them to take a closer look at their political views and how they want to approach these same issues in the future, when they're officially able to vote!

Read the Election Collection Team blog to learn more about the highlights surrounding the Democratic National Convention, held in August 2008. Again, you can also get an earful from Linda Ellerbee, NickNews. com. Ms. Ellerbee let kids have their say on the Nickelodeon cable television network on Sunday, October 12, 2008. Here, kids, ages 10 to 15, talk with Nick News producers and tell them the questions they want to ask the presidential candidates. Ten questions were selected and Senators John McCain and Barack Obama videotaped their answers in interviews conducted separately. Immediately after the show, kids were able to log-on to www.nick.com/kpp/ to vote for their presidential choice. By-the-way, voting continued until Monday, October 20, 2008, where Ms. Ellerbee announced the Kids' Vote winner at 8 p.m. the same night. More than two million votes were cast and Barack Obama came out the winner with 51% of the vote; John McCain had 49% of the vote. Talk about a close call!

So let your kids be heard! It's their right as American citizens! Who knows; maybe your teen could offer you some helpful hints at the polls in November 2008. Kids also get to correctly forecast Obama and McCain in Nick's first Kids Primary this year.

Inspiring! Kids should learn about the election process and how to get their views heard, early in life. Such a neat idea!
