Killer Pad - a Movie Review

Killer Pad is a 2008 direct to video comedy/horror movie. The basic plot is three geeky buddies move into a Hollywood House which happens to sit over a portal to Hell. They throw a huge party in order to score hot chicks. The party is invaded by three female demons that wreck havoc on the party. Warning: The plot of the movie will spoiled in my review.

The movie is straight "B" but actually pretty funny. Of course all the actors are no-name actors except for a great cameo by Joey Lawrence. Shane McRae plays Brody the main geek. He lives with his two geeky friends and they are all pretty clueless and borderline stupid, which of course they have to be because otherwise the movie wouldn't be half as funny. The only other notable actor is Jeff Bryan Davis who plays Backwater, the geeks' former party buddy who is now a priest. He is extremely cute and looks a lot like Michael Rosenbaum.

Of course Backwater saves the day by playing guitar and singing "We want to Rock n' Roll All Night." Apparently the demons don't like rock n' roll and they are sucked back into hell along with the house. Oh and everyone who was killed during the party are now alive again, even the nerd who got his head squished. Yeah it doesn't make sense but "B" movies never do.

The movie ends with Backwater scoring five hot catholic girls. The boys are now bummed because their house is demolished. Their transvestite real estate agent comes to their aid and offers to find them anther house. Of course the agent is also a demon and they are too stupid to realize it. I guess the director decided to leave the ending open for a sequel. Joey Lawrence makes another appearance and the movie ends with his signature "Whoa." Yeah, silly but I enjoyed it.

Yes the movie is pure "B" but entertaining if you enjoy "B" movies. It is campy and cheesy but in a good way. Robert Englund directed this film 18 years after directing 976-EVIL, anther great campy movie. I doubt most people will enjoy this movie because "B" movies just aren't appreciated anymore. But if you enjoyed the comedy/horror movies from the '80's, you will enjoy this movie. I give the movie 3 out of 5 stars.
