Killer Whale Fights Great White Shark: Killer Whale Wins According to Video

Greater Intelligence?

The Killer Whale and the Great White Shark, "the" two creatures of the seas that draw "ooh's and aah's." I guess most people think that the Great White Shark would win a fight between the Great White Shark and the Killer Whale. I never thought that. I thought that Killer Whale was tougher than the Great White Shark.

Paul Blart has issued a post on Gather News titled "Killer Whale vs. Great White Shark." In this report Blart tells us that recent news reports advise us that the Killer Wale, or Orca, is tougher than the Great White Shark.

How was this information garnered?

Apparently there was a tour that was looking for Killer Whales off of the coast of San Francisco and a fight between a Killer Whale and a Great White Shark was viewed by the Sea Captain and some passengers. The Orca won. Part of the attack and fight was captured on film although that has not been made available yet. (I'd pay to see that!)

The edge that the Killer Whale has is its intelligence which it can use for fighting strategies.

Actually employing further research it really isn't too much of a stretch to see that the Killer Whale is not going to be a victim of the Great White Shark except perhaps accidentally.

Simply in size alone the Killer Whale has a huge advantage. It weighs up to six tons compared to 5,000 pounds for the Great White Shark.

The Killer Whale lives from 50-80 years and the Great White goes 30-100 years so there would be equality in experience.

However, Great White Sharks hunt alone and Killer Whales hunt in "Pods" of 40 whales or more and are sophisticated in their approach to prey and defense.

I remember back in the 1970s there were two phenomenons. One was the series of "Jaws" pictures and the other was the movie "Orca."

We were at that time intrigued with the beasts of the oceans.

In the movie "Orca," the Killer Whale was shown to be the stronger creature and it seems to be it was ahead of its time.
