The dead man was described as a man in his 40's, and as of today, has still not been identified. The man's body was covered and taped up with wrapping paper that had Christmas trees all over it, and then the wrapping paper was also covered with bedsheets at the scene that the body was found. The dead man was found with 2 gun shot wounds, his eyes were covered with tape, and he also showed several signs of having been tortured, gang or hit man style. The dead man also appeared to have been strangulated.
Killings by gangs, drug cartels, and hit men are becoming a common occurrence in Mexico, and occur as often as a daily basis. Rival drug cartels are at war in Mexico, and as many as 6 dead bodies each day is not uncommon for authorities to find. This savage problem of gang style killings seems to be increasing rapidly, and seems that there is no end in sight, for the turf wars and killings.
President Felipe Calderon has police officers, infantry, and and literally thousands of troops of soldiers sent to these corrupted areas, and their impact has come seemingly unnoticed by these killers and drug runners. Furthermore, there has been an increase in police officers and soldiers being murdered in the line of duty, not to mention other various individuals with authority.
One of the top officials at the national attorney general's office was shot in the face on Monday while on his daily route to work in Mexico City, and drug hit men are suspected in this case as well. In Northwestern Baja California state, the body of the chief of the AFI elite police force was found shot in several places, and also had a dismembered finger laying on the dead man's chest. In the northern part of Mexico, yet another dead body was found covered and wrapped in plastic material with his hands bound. This dead body, that was located near a highway, also had a note attached to his body that appeared to be a dissuasive message to the Gulf cartel.
