Killing Time..

Now I Know Why They Call it That

Jean Anne
First of all, let me give you a little background info on myself. I am a thirty-three year old wife and a mother to four children ranging in age from two to sixteen. I had my first child when I was only seventeen so I have had to work at least one full time job for the last sixteen years. In that time period I could always think of things I would rather be doing than working. I recently injured my back at my job and I am unable to work anymore. Now I have nothing but time, but what am I supposed to do with it?

When my children were small I wanted to spend more time with them, but now that three of them are teens, not so much. I missed so much when they were younger and I can't get that back now that I have the time.

My two year old little girl is the highlight of my life, a big surprise that came along when I was thirty-one. Since the day she was born I have wished that I didn't need to work so I could be with her 24/7. But right now she is going through the "terrible twos" and I could use a little time away.

I have wanted to paint the kitchen for years so I went and bought all the necessary supplies. I picked out the perfect color combination and have everything taped off, ready to be painted. And there it all sits, untouched. The paint is probably coagulating as I write this.

Last summer I wanted to have a flower garden but knew that I would not have the time to care for it. This year I asked my two sons to dig up the yard so I could make it happen. In my shed you will find the potting soil, unopened seed packets, fertilizer and a watering can. I even bought a pair of those pretty gardening gloves so I wouldn't get my hands dirty. Guess I don't need to worry about that.

I always see other women with their perfectly manicured nails and wished I had the time to get mine done. Now I have the time, just no place to go so why bother.

I have always wanted to be a writer but I've never been able to take time away from my real job to pursue that dream. So, now that I have all of this time on my hands, this is what I do. I hope you enjoy my articles and keep looking for new stuff because I'm really not in the mood to paint today.
