Killzone 2 Boss Strategy: Radec

Otter
As expected, the last boss in Killzone 2 is the hardest firefight in the entire game. In order to defeat the Helghast Colonel, Radec, you need to apply all your previous knowledge in tactics and be on your toes at all times. Here are some tips to help you defeat the last boss of Killzone 2.

Awards

You will earn the Demonslayer Bronze Trophy if you managed to defeat Radec in less than 20 minutes (to make it easier, fight him under the Recruit difficulty). You will also earn the Survivor Silver Trophy for beating the game in any difficulty level.

Location

The last boss fight in Killzone 2 is located under the Autarch's Sanctum section of Visari Palace.

Boss Description

Radec himself isn't too hard. He has the ability to cloak himself and teleport anywhere on the battlefield (often behind you back). He will use a machine gun on you in the medium and long ranges. Otherwise, he will try to attack you with a knife. About two hits from his knife attack will kill you in Trooper difficulty if your health was full beforehand.

Strategy

The First Floor

Your first objective is to clear out the first floor. Helghast soldiers will be coming from all sides and with different weaponry. A good place to hide is the blocked entrance to the first floor. So run behind you and into the small room at the start. Wait for the enemy to come to you from both the left and right sides and keep an eye for grenades.

The Second Floor

With the first floor cleared, head for the second floor balcony. Take care of any Helghast Soldiers on the balcony and position yourself in one of the two stairways that connect the first and second floor. Stay on top of the stairway and slowly picked off any Helghast soldiers that comes into your view. Also keep in mind of the constant grenade barrages. If the stairway you are on is cleared of enemies, run to the other one. You should also revive your partner every time he falls from battle since he makes a perfect decoy for the Helghast.

After a while, Helghast soldiers will begin rushing the second floor on both stairways in droves. Focus on clearing one stairway out before taking care of the other one (your partner will be useless in this situation). Grenades, grenade launchers and flamethrowers are perfect for this occasion.

After surviving the rush, Radec will send in his rocket launcher unit. Move out of the enemy's sights by staying near one of the staircases. Slowly picked these dangerous soldiers off from far away; use the remaining grenades and grenade launcher ammo to dispose of them.

Radec

With his army out of the way, you finally get the chance to fight Radec one on one. Immediately return to the first floor and grab yourself a shotgun from the weapon rack in the blocked entranced (the same place where you were hiding earlier). Afterwards, run back out into an open area of the first floor.

The last boss of Killzone 2 has two attacks. His machine gun attack is a little weak and should give you enough time to take cover. What you should really watch for is his knife attack. Often times, he will disappear and teleport. To counter this, keep turning around until you spot him. One shot from your shot gun should stop his devastating knife attack.

After shooting him enough times with the shotgun, Radec will teleport far away and begin to shooting at you with his machine gun. Quickly switch your shotgun for a long range weapon and fire back. With enough hits, Radec will be defeated for good.

Congratulations on beating the last boss of Killzone 2 and completing the game.
