Anticipation was killing me, almost literally I was dying for Killzone 3 to hit the stores so that I could continue on my journey through the amazing story line. My angst was fueled by the addition to PlayStation Home content of the Killzone theme that had taken over the plaza area of the online community. Two warring worlds, in the future would continue the fight as the ISA versus the Helghast.
In this installment, you have been left behind by the ISA after the leader of the Helghast decided to "nuke" his own capital city with his citizens still inside. You are a futuristic soldier trying to get to the extraction point so that you can go home. You are joined by familiar faces from your squad as you try to battle your way across the alien planet.
Enough about the off-line game play. The main reason I bought this game is for the online game play versus other users all over the world. That and the reason that you can use the PlayStation Move and PlayStation Sharp Shooter with the game. This added a whole new dimension to my game experience. When I first got online, using the Move controller and Sharpshooter, I was immediately fragging all of my enemies. More than I usually would with just the regular controller. The part I most like about the online play, is that you can pick your own career. For example, you can choose to be a Field Medic, or perhaps a Spy. I particularly like being an engineer, so that I can build bot weapons all over the map to protect my team.
The game is absolutely beautiful and the only complaint I had is when the network went down and I wasn't able to play. The levels are challenging and they also provide great locations for team play and setting up bases to protect. There are also several different game modes that allow you to complete different challenges and earn medals. I have been playing the game for several months now and it has never dulled for me. I will continue to play until my next addiction comes out, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception.
