Kilz Primer and Paint Review

Kilz primer and paint is extremely wonderful products.

For one thing Kilz is thin and will go a long way. It goes on evenly and smoothly with little effort and less paint on the brush.

Kilz primer is about the only primer that will cover almost any stain you throw at it. The only thing that my husband has found that it will not cover is nicotine/tobacco stains. There is very little, if anything, that will cover nicotine however.

Kilz is an extremely good product to use on ceilings that has water stains on them. Kilz primer is considered one of the best stain blockers on the market.

The best Kilz primer is what comes in the spray cans. This is wonderful for covering small marks or stains (i.e. water stains, sweat stains, pen marks etc) on the ceiling, walls, or other paintable surfaces. Some stains may require two coats of primer to cover them thoroughly.

The drawback of Kilz products is the fact that they have extremely harsh smells which can cause some people to become ill. If you are going to be using Kilz make sure to wear a mask and always make certain that there is no one else in the house or building other than painters. And always, always be sure you have adequate ventilation and use fans, vents, and open windows if possible. Also, you will have to use paint thinner to clean your brushes when using the primer. Most of the time you can use just water to clean the brushes after using the paint.

The Kilz paints are also wonderful products. They cover extremely well and go on smooth and effortlessly.

They usually do not have as many color choices in their paint, and the primer cannot be colored or tinted at all. However, the staff should be able to match colors of other paints for the Kilz paints. You will just have to ask if they can do this.

Kilz can be purchased at places such as Wal-Mart, Lowe's, and some hardware stores. Simply look in the phone book or online for your nearest Kilz dealer. Kilz is one of the least expensive paints on the market that is still an extremely wonderful product. In most places you can usually get a gallon of Kilz primer for around $10.00 per gallon.

Kilz is the very first recommendation my husband will make when someone asks his advice on primers that will cover stains very well. He will recommend their paint also if someone is looking for a cheaper paint that will still stand up and hold its color.

When using the primer make absolutely certain that no one other than the painters are in the building. Kilz primer has a very harsh odor that can make people extremely ill. Also make sure you have plenty of ventilation.

Thank you, Rod, I truly do like people who will give their honest opinions. And my husband, in 30 years of painting, has NEVER found a paint that will cover in one coat. Now as to whether they will stand behind their guaranteen...I am not sure. It may depend on where you purchased it. Thank you, again.

KLTZ one coat coverage is a joke. Now I'm going to see if they have the ethics to stand behind theit warrantee.
