Kim Kardashian to Divorce Kris Humphries After 72 Days of Marriage

If ever there was a reason not to marry someone after dating him for six months when your lives are so high profile, Kim Kardashian has proven why. After a marriage to professional basketball player Kris Humphries that has lasted a mere 72 days, Kim is reportedly filing for divorce.

I happened to catch some of the episodes of Keeping up with the Kardashians pre-wedding and remember Kim's sister, Khloe, having big doubts about this new love interest. She questioned his motives, saying he was probably just using her to further his own celebrity status. In the coming days, I'm sure we'll find out more about the divorce and the real reasons, but could this be part of it? Fortunately for her, they signed a pre-nup. This isn't Kim Kardashian's first wedding or divorce, either. She was married at 19 and divorced after four years of marriage to a man who reportedly abused her and made her feel like she had to be perfect for him.

From what I saw, Humphries' attitude was a little bit old school. He seemed a bit pushy and controlling as he was very quick to want to fight Kim's younger brother Rob after mouthing off to his sister. While it is admirable to stand up for your girlfriend, it's not wise to jump in the middle of family dynamics before you really know how they interact. Is this Kim's type? As someone who has every luxury at her fingertips and a supportive family, you would hope she would not lean toward controlling or abusive men. I'm not saying Humphries was abusive, just that his demeanor seemed a bit off.

E! Entertainment Network has been playing the two-part special of the Kardashian/Humphries wedding nonstop since it happened. I wonder what the network folks think of the divorce? Would it bother them that they've capitalized on this wedding just to see it crash so quickly? I doubt it. Next in the works will probably be a TV special about the divorce.

So what is everyone's big obsession with this family? I have to admit, when I first heard about the show, I had no idea who any of the Kardashians were. I did know of Olympic Decathlete Bruce Jenner, the step-father of the now super famous Kardashian kids. They seem to be a set of people who really like the limelight and bank on their crazy antics and good looks to keep making money and magazine covers. That being said, I do enjoy watching at times because they are certainly unique in the ways they interact with one another.
