Kim Kardashian and Maria Sharapova: Why New Jersey Nets need to resign Kris Humphries and Sasha Vujacic
It's been a few years now since the New Jersey Nets put a great team on the court. The Nets have plenty of decisions to make this off-season regarding personal, since many of their players are now free agents.
Here are a couple of compelling reasons the Nets might want to consider resigning two of their free agents. Reasons that have high entertainment value, beyond what the players can do on the floor.
Kris HumphriesLast season was a career year for 25 year old Kris Humphries with the New Jersey Nets. He became a double-double machine for us, having 29 games where he posted double figures in points and rebounds.
Before last season, Humphries had a total of eight double-doubles in six years in the NBA. In 2010-11, Humphries averaged a double-double, with 10.0 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Both career highs.
Kris Humphries developed into a solid power forward last season. If he can keep averaging a double-double going forward he can really help us. The worries about resigning him are that he had a career year in his contract year, and he got hurt at the end of last season.
Real Reason to Resign Kris Humphries
Kris Humphries is engaged to be married to Kim Kardashian (despite rumors that Kim is fooling around on the side with NFL safety Bret Lockett). Kim is a beautiful celebrity and likes to go to Nets games to watch Kris play.
Last season I was lucky enough to go to a Nets game at the Prudential Center where Kim Kardashian was also in attendance. She is a real beauty, and seeing her at the game was a thrill. You know, I cannot even remember if the Nets won or lost that game, but I remember seeing Kim K.
Sasha Vujacic
The case for resigning Sasha Vujacic based upon his play is much weaker than for resigning Kris Humphries. But Sasha did post a career high for points scored per game with the Nets, averaging 11.4 points in 54 games. The Nets acquired Vujacic from the Los Angeles Lakers in three-way trade on December 15, 2010.
For his career, Sasha is averaging just 5.6 points per game. But Sasha does have a higher scoring average of 12.7 points per 36 minutes played. Still there is no compelling reason to resign him based upon his play.
Real Reason to Resign Sasha Vujacic
Sasha Vujacic is engaged to be married to tennis superstar Maria Sharapova. Maria turns heads not just for her play, but also for her looks. Though I have yet to personally see her at a Nets game, Maria has been to some of Sasha's games. It would be a thrill to see Maria at the Prudential Center in 2011-12.
Don't Forget Beyonce
Another beautiful woman who sometimes attends New Jersey Nets games is singing superstar Beyonce Knowles. Beyonce, of course, is married to Jay Z, who owns a small percentage of the Nets.
So, if the Nets resign Kris Humphries and Sasha Vujacic, and they remain engaged to Kim Kardashian and Maria Sharapova respectively, think of the possibilities for the upcoming season. We might have a game where Kim Kardashian, Maria Sharapova and Beyonce Knowles are all sitting courtside watching a game.
Seeing even one of the beautiful women at a game would be a thrill, but to see all three at the same game would make the Nets the talk of the league.
