Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth Texas is Almost World Class

Texas is know for lots of different things but architecture and art are not one of those two things. While Texas may not be famous for art or architecture Texas does have one of the best art museums in the country. Not only does the Kimbell Art Museum house a fine collection of art but the buildings themselves are considered works of architectural art too.

The Kimbell Art Museum is located at 3333 Camp Bowie Boulevard, Fort Worth, Texas. The Kimbell Art Museum has beautiful grounds, buildings, and paintings. The Kimbell Art Museum is a small art museum in a state that does everything big. While the museum may be small there is always something to see as they regularly have traveling exhibitions to augment their small collection. So while it may not have lots of its own art during the year it will house lots of art from around the world.

When the Kimbell Art Museum was going to be built it was intended that it would be a world class art museum. While I would not go so far as to say it was world class I would say that it is one of the best art museums in the country outside of the world class museums we have such as the MFA, or MOMA to name only a few of the world class art museums we have in America.

The museum does not have a large collection of American art, or modern art because other nearby art museums main focuses are on those areas. Besides these missing art pieces the Kimbell Art Museum does have a good well rounded collection even though it is small. They have many antiquities from all major cultures such as Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Asian, African, and Pre-Columbian. They also have Michelangelo's first work which may be the museums most famous piece. Other works include pieces by Monet, El Greco, Rembrandt, Ruebens Gainsborough, and Picasso to name a few.

The Kimbell Art Museum is a great place to take the family. You can come for a picnic outside in the beautiful lawn with trees and gardens and then go to see the art. Kids will enjoy the antiquities the most.

Overall the Kimbell Art Museum is not world class but it is close. Its architecture may be its best piece of the whole collection.
