Kim's Five Life Rules

Throw Out the New Year's Resolutions

Kim Keason
Being that the new year is just around the corner and the fact that I will probably not keep any New Year's Resolutions I would, could, or should make, I devised five simple rules that should negate any yearly resolutions. These rules are simple and yet difficult to keep but I guarantee if you can live by them then you will have a happy life and encounter very little stress.

Kim's Life Rule #1: If you make the mess, you should clean it up.

You will never spend an entire day running around cleaning again if you just take the few minutes to take care of the mess now. It is easier said than done and it would be nice if the whole family was on board with the plan. Okay, I'm living in a utopia but theoretically, it should work.

Kim's Life Rule #2: If you make a mistake then fess up, apologize, and fix it.

This is not an either/or rule. You need to accomplish all three things in order for it to work properly. As much as you might want to hide the mistake or blame it on someone or something else just try to fess up to it. You will see that it is easier than any other excuse and you will feel much better about the situation afterwards.

Kim's Life Rule #3: Don't procrastinate.

I personally have a difficult time with one. I'm a professional procrastinator and therefore I have a tendency to set things aside with the intention of 'getting to it later'. But think about this: What if later never comes? If you really think about that question it should terrify you, at least it terrifies me.

I'm not talking about things like laundry, although that can be pretty important. I'm talking about the important family and friends stuff that you've been meaning to do but haven't found the time. Make the time, now.

Kim's Life Rule #4: Pay it forward

Call it karma, being a good person, being a good Christian, or whatever phrase you prefer, it is all the same thing: People helping people. If this seems difficult to you then read: The Three T's of Donating by clicking here. It isn't as hard or as costly as you might think.

Kim's Life Rule #5: When all else fails, eat some chocolate.

Does this rule really need an explanation? Chocolate does the soul good and a good soul is needed for a great life.

Each of these rules can stand alone but if you think about it, they all work better when they go hand-in-hand.
Have a Happy and Blessed New Year!

Our daughter is the procrastinator! I bought her a sign for Christmas that says, "Danger: Deadlines are closer than you think!" Cheers

I meant "Good rules" not "God rules"! Although that is true too.

Godd rules! Very few things are not improved with the addition of chocolate, even a list of rules!
