You've heard people say it all the time, "cool it," it's part of our language, but there are times when we should hear that more clearly, and this is one of them. Have you ever been in a room that was too hot? Uncomfortable isn't it? Laptops are so much a part of our culture, yet they exist in a world where heat is the enemy, and cooling it, is important. USB fans have become an essential part of our laptop computing experience, and a cooler laptop is a longer living laptop.
Fans have been inside computers since the outset of their creation, and laptops come with internal fans, but these external fans add cooling to the process underneath the laptop, which in most instances is where the heat is. Laptops for several years have been noted to run hot on the underside, and in fact, we have been precautioned against holding them in one position for too long as it can cause heat injury to the user. Cooling it down can help the user accomplish two important things, one; they will avoid this heat injury to their own bodies, two; they will lengthen the life of their equipment.
A company named Kinamax designs the set that we purchased, the unit is silver or grey in color, sits at an angle with gripping rubber to hold the laptop; if you use a lap mount for your laptop it's excellent; in my case, I use the top of an old T.V. tray and it's comfortable. Comfort and long use, these are the qualities that we look for in laptop performance, we like the mobile nature of the equipment, but this helps keep it cool, and keeping it cool is important. CPU life and heat relate to each other in these two critical areas, the stronger the heat the shorter the life, the more the heat the faster the performance, so as we make the laptop faster, we also make it run hotter. Some manufacturers are putting additional fans into the casing, but even with additional internal fans, the exit wind under the laptop is often inadequate, what the USB fan system accomplishes is putting the laptop in the right place at the right time.
Can you imagine being able to lengthen the driving life of your car? Would you put some extra fluids in your tank to do something like that? Many people have, here in this remarkable set of fans, run off the USB port of your laptop is an opportunity to "cool it" - lengthen the life of your laptop, you'll be happy you did.
