Parks are a common sight in big as well as small cities all over the United States. Each city allots a big open space to serve as a park for the people. It is where they can enjoy the beauty of nature even in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the busy city life.

Anchorage, Alaska also has a park for its residents to enjoy. The city boasts of its unique park named Kincaid Park located at 9401 West Raspberry Road. It is situated in the southwestern part of Anchorage and is made up of 1,500 acres filled with forests and hills. Lying beside Kincaid Park is the Cook inlet. Kincaid Park gives it visitors a chance to explore and view the exceptional beauty of Alaska's wildlife right in the heart of the state's biggest city.

Kincaid Park is open to its visitors the entire week from 10am to 10pm. While strolling through the park, you get the chance to enjoy the amazing view of the many majestic mountains in Anchorage like Mt. Denali, Mt. Susitna, Mt. Fotaker as well as a splendid view of Fire Island. Kincaid Park also has a great view of probably the most beautiful sunset in the whole Anchorage.

Kincaid Park started out small when it was first opened to the public in 1968. With the growing number of visitors it was later expanded in 1978. Part of the expansion was the addition of the Nike missile historic site which is still open to the public until the present. Part of this historic site in Kincaid Park is a bunker that is a venue for all kinds of parties and events. The 5,000 square feet space can accommodate as much as 299 people.

Aside from the bunker, Kincaid also has other venues to rent for all kinds of occasions. They are perfect for family gatherings, business events, conventions, wedding receptions and even sports events. Big sports events have been held in Kincaid Park like the X-Games, Olympic try-outs and other big events. The rent for theses venues start at $15 to as much as $115 an hour, depending on the size and location.

For those who love outdoor sports and activities, Kincaid Park also has a facility for you. The Kincaid Outdoor facility has climbing towers and batting cages. The 25 foot climbing towers will surely be a challenge to avid climbers. The batting cage of Kincaid Park is also a great place to increase your batting average and spend hours of fun with friends and family.

Kincaid Park also has a place for motocross fans and racers. It is open Wednesday up to Sunday between 10am and 8:30pm. It is not open the entire year, you can only visit it from April to November.

Throughout the year the Little Campbell Lake in Kincaid Park has a host of fun activities to offer its visitors. There are a lot of water sports activities that you can do in the lake during the summer. In the winter, you can ice skate or fish in the frozen lake.

You will never run out of fun things to do in Kincaid Park. You can do a lot of fun outdoor activities without having to leave the city. A vacation in Anchorage, Alaska will not be complete without visiting the splendid Kincaid Park.
