Weeks before our 14th anniversary, my husband and I were contemplating several options in and around the Minneapolis area where we would be visiting relatives. A long time friend of mine recommended we try Kincaid's in St. Paul. We made reservations early on a Saturday evening, so that we could continue on to a Christmas concert nearby. Reservations were super easy to make; as you simply sign up on-line for the reservation service several weeks in advance. I was even able to put in the comments section that we were celebrating our 14th anniversary! When we arrived within five minutes of our reservation time of 5 p.m., they checked our coats and seated us promptly in a very private section facing a window overlooking trees covered in Christmas lights and the outdoor ice skating rink. They did not seat anyone else around us until we were nearly ready to leave as they started to get busier. The atmosphere was amazing! We loved looking out at the Christmas lights and the skaters; and expect that the view would be equally amazing in the summer when the trees are all alive with leaves; and in the fall when all the leaves are in full color.

This little restaurant is nestled in downtown St. Paul very near several upscale hotels. We used the indoor sidewalks to walk from our hotel parking lot over to Kincaid's; and never once had to go out into the cold December air! After we were seated, our waitress kindly made suggestions and took our order. She was very sweet about our anniversary, and helped us choose a fantastic appetizer. We ordered the Warm Brie with Macadamia Nut Crust drizzled in a balsamic vinaigrette reduction and honey. My husband and I then ordered a house salad to share; and it was also very good. Between these two things and the hot crusty bread delivered to the table, we were not very hungry for our meal; but ordered anyway... I ordered the Pan Seared Chicken Breast with Mushrooms; and did not care for it very much. I was too full to eat anyway at that point, but I found it lacking in flavor. I certainly wish I had tried one of the other entrée items as it was very difficult to choose. My husband ordered the Signature Chophouse Burger and he loved his selection. We did not order dessert because at this point were so full, we were concerned about walking back to our car to drive to the concert. We enjoyed quiet conversation in a wonderful atmosphere, and will certainly return to Kincaid's the next time we are in town for our anniversary.

Kincaid's was voted Best Restaurant in the Twin Cities, and I believe it. If you are looking for a superb meal in a pleasing atmosphere, you will not be disappointed.

What a great article! Sounds like an excellent restaurant. We'll have to go there if we're ever in the area. :)
