Kind Fruit & Nut Bar in Macadamia & Apricot Review

The Pen
A couple of weeks ago I discovered Kind's Fruit & Nut bars in the organic aisle at my local grocery. I bought the Walnut & Date flavor first and today I went back to try the Macadamia and Apricot bar.

The Kind Bars are made in Australia and cost $1.99 each. The Macadamia Apricot comes in a partially c-thru wrapper decorated with gray, yellow, orange, green and blue stripes. Inside the bar looks totally covered with shiny golden brown shreds of coconut dotted with big chunks of macadamia nuts.

Kind donates 5% of their profits to the Peace Works Foundation. They claim that this bar is all natural, gluten, wheat and dairy free, it has a low glycemic index of 48, and is a good source of fiber. Macadamia & Apricot also is non-GMO, contains no sulfur dioxide and no trans fat.

This bar contains macadamia nuts, apricots (made from apricot paste, vegetable based glycerol, pectin, apple fiber, and citric acid) honey, shredded coconut, coconut chips, glucose, puffed rice, chicory fiber, and soy lecithin.

One Kind Macadamia and Apricot bar only has 190 calories and 130 fat calories. There are 14g of total fat, 5g of saturated fat, and 0mg of cholesterol in it. And 20mg of sodium, 15g of total carbs, 5g of fiber, 12g of sugar, and 2g of protein in this snack.

This bar is completely covered in coconut, there's more coconut than either apricots or macadamia nuts. I'm not too into crunching down on huge shreds of it, so I wasn't expecting to like this flavor too much.

After biting into it, I found that the coconut flavor is the one that stands out the most. And although it was a lot of coconut for my tastes it was moist and sweetened with honey and it held the other flavors together so I wound up enjoying the shreds.

The apricots are finely chopped and it gives this Kind bar a tart and tangy flavor that tasted really delicious and it helped to balance out the sweetness of the coconut. I think I enjoyed the macadamia nuts the best though, because they gave the bar a rich, buttery flavor that made this bar taste like a decadent dessert.

In the End...

Despite all of the coconut, I found myself really enjoying Kind's Macadamia and Apricot Fruit & Nut Bar. It's healthy, but it tastes great. I'll be buying this flavor again, I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.
