To long i struggled with hybrids hitting the ball so high that I ended up keeping the 2 iron in the bag for the simple reason that I was afraid my ball was going to go into orbit! I lost distance because of this and pretty much gave up on the hybrid idea for a few years. Yes, I know this is what they are designed for, but I don't need the ball to go to the moon, and the club manufactures should have catered to the better, harder swingers out there long before now!
I first tried this club early in the Summer. I was surprised that it stayed at the same height to slightly higher than my 2-iron was flying and that it was so much easier to hit! I hit a few off the heel and toe just to test out the forgiveness and I have been hooked ever since! This baby is in a fight for the best club I have ever hit! It makes the game so easy knowing that I can now be consistent with my shots from around 225 yards. I feel so much more relaxed on par 5's and long par 3's knowing that all i need to do is put a nice smooth swing on the ball and its going to go where I want it.
The design of this club is very simple. A square faces, no-offset design on a slick looking black head. There is a weight in the back of the head that can be adjusted for custom shafts, and the hosel is actually bendable to match the lie progression of your iron set! This club looks so good when you set it down, you have no doubt that you are going to pull off a good shot with it! The feel is a little heavier too, this matches the irons more, even with a graphite shaft in it. I've been able to test both steel and graphite, and prefer to match the shaft in my hybrid with the shaft in my irons. The club feels great through the swing and due to its very neutral design is very workable! Yes a workable hybrid! Eat your hear out Taylor Made!
This is well worth a trip to the golf store or range to demo this club over the Winter. If you are a good player looking for a hybrid and think you are out of luck, give the King Cobra Baffler Pro a try, I can almost guarantee it will find a spot in your bag!

Post a CommentI've now gone to 3 separate demos and tested these clubs ... just to make sure I didn't have a lucky session.
Result: I'm now in the process of saving up $600 to buy a 2, 3, 4, and 5 ... the review above was right, especially with the graphite shaft, the swing is really easy and it just seems like I have more confidence hitting these hybrids than I do an iron as I address the ball with my club.
The shot is a little more lofty which I'm OK with as long as I'm getting consistent distance. I might save my irons for days I play in heavy wind.
