The King Cobra Carbon CB irons are a very soft forged iron designed for the lower handicap players and golf professionals. It's clean, chrome polished head, thin top line and minimal offset make these clubs a pleasure to look at for anyone who uses them. The cavity back design of these irons make them very playable when struck off center, but still allow for players to work their shots however they would like.
It's been a long while since I have hit a Cobra iron. In fact, I owned a set of the Greg Norman Forged irons and the original King Cobra Over Size irons and Drive and have not picked one up since late last year with their new hybrids and drivers. The first thing I noticed about these irons are how true and consistent they flew from shot to shot. They distance was average for a forged irons and their control was extremely good. I was able to hit the same shot over and over with these clubs and was also able to move the ball however I wanted from many lies. I give credit for that to its minimal offset design that allows the player to manipulate shots much more easily than an iron with a lot of offset.
While this club is going to be in their line up for 2008, there are rumors that a new line of forged blades and cavity backs are on their way this Spring. If they come out soon, I will be sure to write a post as soon as I can get my hands on them. I have seen photos of them and they look amazing! I can't wait!
Overall, this is one great club for better players. It combines looks, feel and pliability with a little added forgiveness. Add to this and the fact that they are under $700 and you cant go wrong!
