King George County, VA Offers Free Friday Night Movies

Free Movies on Friday Nights to Be Offered in King George County, VA

Would you love to see a movie out but seem to be short on cash? No problem, thanks to some community partners in King George County and the NSWC (Naval Surface Warfare Center) Credit Union. The county has been offering free movies most Friday nights during the summer and even has one movie scheduled for the month of October. (They offered free movies to the public last year too.) While things seem to be winding down you still have time to catch two or three good movies. I've heard several good things about the previous movie events. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. Considering the costs of an individual movie ticket, this is an amazing opportunity to take the family out for the right price.

The movies are being held on the King George Middle School track field. (King George Middle School is located on the corner of Route 206 and Route 3.) You are encouraged to bring a blanket or a chair for comfort. Keep in mind that sitting on the ground for a couple of hours will be uncomfortable. You will also want a blanket large enough for the entire family to stretch out on. If it rains on the night of the scheduled event, the movie will be played in the King George Middle School auditorium. Each movie is scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM (Dusk).

In offering the free movies on school grounds there are some rules to be followed. Please be aware that alcohol, tobacco, pets, and coolers will not be allowed on to school property. (Most for obvious reasons!) I do not know if refreshments will be available for purchase. If this is important to you, please call the Parks and Recreation department at the number listed below.

The following is the list of the movies that are scheduled for August and October:

August 6th, 2010 - "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" Rated PG

August 20th, 2010 - "Alice in Wonderland" Rated PG

October 29th, 2010 - "How to Train Your Dragon" Rated PG

The movie that will be held on October 29th will be held at a different location than the King George Middle School. "How to Train Your Dragon" will be held at Caledon Natural Area on Route 218.

Please be advised that this is the new movie schedule and not the one that was originally released.

Any questions that you may have can be answered by King George Parks and Recreation by calling 540-775-4FUN (4386).
