I was surprised to find out however that "Kings of Leon" has been around for quite sometime, in fact they were founded in 1999. The UK accepted "Kings of Leon" well before their fellow Americans had. Made up of three brothers and one cousin, this band is just now hitting it big in the United States.
I went to the concert and although I did enjoy "Kings of Leon" prior to I have to say that they might possibly be the single best live band I have ever seen in concert. As someone extremely interested in music I have been to my fair share of concerts and for some bands who I may even like better than "Kings of Leon". However, in my opinion being a great live band is another feat and "Kings of Leon" more than delivers.
What I found rather interesting were the amount of empty seats. I guess I was anticipating a sold out crowd and while I would not say that the arena was empty there were a lot more seats available then I would have thought for a band that has two singles that are repeatedly played on the radio.
Being as it was I thought maybe everyone knew something I didn't. Maybe the "Kings of Leon" concert was going to be a bust. Maybe my friend who asked me to go and had been before was the only person who felt this way about them.
The minute they started playing however I was convinced that everyone in the arena was not wrong...those who did not attend were the ones missing out. The sound quality was amazing along with the music of course. Unlike many bands, Kings of Leon sounded as good if not better in their live show as they do on the radio.
"Kings of Leon" is a fantastic band on the radio but an even better band in person. Given the opportunity I would see them again in a heartbeat. In fact, after the concert I purchased their three CD's that came out prior to their most recent "Only by the Night". The three prior were "Youth and Young Manhood", "Aha Shake Heartbreak", and "Because of the Times". All come highly recommended.
