KingsIsle Entertainment (KI) announces several much anticipated major content updates coming to Wizard 101. In a recent press release, KI announced it's intentions to provide players with several major updates.

Wizard 101 fansite, Wizard 101 Central, has been the place where many wizards have talked about new updates they would like to see. Celestia has been a much talked about rumor, with many speculating as to the release date, content and types of creatures that would inhabit the world.

No longer just a rumor, Celestia is announced as the seventh world of the spiral to go live. The new world is inspired by Atlantis and there will be new adventures and quests under the sea.

With the new world, a level cap increase will also be added. Wizards will be able to advance beyond the level 50 grandmaster to level 60. No word yet on a potential new title. Celestia is scheduled to go live in late Summer of 2010, however it is reported that new quests will become available in June that will lead up to the unlocking of the new world.

KI will be introducing three new secondary schools of magic with the release of Celestia. No official word on what they are; but here is a clue for fellow players. In the photo on the announcement page at the Wizard101 website you can see three new school icons; a moon, a sun and a star.

Another major update coming this Spring will allow players to do much more with pets in the game. Currently, pets don't do a lot. Some give you a slightly higher power pip chance, small stats increase or provide you with a spell. Mostly they just look good and provide some small status when you acquire your school pet or receive a rare pet drop from a boss.

KI has announced new pet capabilities coming to the game. Players will be able to hatch and train pets to be in the Pet Derby. There will be new pet-themed minigames. You will be able to use your pets as allies in duels. You can feed and train them. Pets will now have the ability to level from an egg to ancient beings with incredible powers.

Fans of the game have long expressed an interest in such pet abilities, level cap increase and new worlds to explore; and it looks like KI was listening.
