Kingston 30 Jamaican Restaurant in Lawrenceville, Georgia

While growing up in New York I got my first taste of authentic Jamaican food. I use to walk into a local restaurant and be captured by the wonderful smell of the spices and warmth of the people. My favorite Jamaican delight would have to be the Jamaican patties with the flaky pastry toasted perfectly filled with beef or chicken or veggies I would buy a Jamaican patty almost every day. It wasn't until later in my teen years that I tried other Jamaican cuisine like jerk chicken and curry goat for the first time and I was hooked!

I received a referral from a friend about a new Jamaican restaurant located in Lawrenceville, Georgia just seconds from the Discover Mills Mall. I had an opportunity to visit Kingston 30 Jamaican Restaurant recently to check out the authenticity for myself. When you drive up, you see the Jamaican flag in the window and the restaurant is located in a strip mall that has other attractions that include beauty and massage.

The Kingston 30 Jamaican Restaurant is located at 1820 North Brown Road, Lawrenceville, Georgia 30043, Suite 30. Once you walk inside you'll see a group of booths to your far right and wooden tables and chairs in the center. Directly to your immediate right there is a section that has bar stools with a clear view of the television. You'll see behind the counter a glass case that contains lots of sweet Jamaican treats that include Vanilla Cake, Jamaican Fruit Cake and Sweet Potato Pudding just to name a few.

I decided to turn my attention to the menu and saw that there was so much to choose from; I decided to try a few different dishes. I started off with the Red Peas and Rice soup. It was a delicious treat as the peas were perfectly cooked and the soup included dumplings which made the soup very hearty. So much so that it could have been a meal on its own. Next up it was time for the Roti. I choose the curry chicken Roti which was packed with wonderful flavor and the chicken was so tender that it melted in my mouth. The Roti also included boiled potatoes that were cooked to perfection.

Although I ordered an additional dish that included jerk chicken, rice and peas and salad, I couldn't't eat it all, but I did try some before they boxed it up for me. Let me tell you, the jerk chicken was smoked just right and it simply melted with tender juiciness. So good! Since I am a Jamaican Patty addict, of course I had to get one to go. So, I took that home and had a midnight snack and let me tell you, it was just as I remembered. Great taste and the pastry was so flaky and light.

The Kingston 30 Jamaican Restaurant is certainly authentic and they have all of the taste of Jamaica including Ackee, Salt Fish, Escovitch Fish, Plantains, Coco bread and so much more. I have been to the Kingston 30 Jamaican Restaurant twice now and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for Authentic Jamaican food in Georgia. Kingston 30 Jamaican Restaurant also provides catering for receptions, weddings, birthday and anniversary parties.

Bottom-line: Excellent Jamaican Food, Price point $3.00 to $15.00, Family friendly and convenient to shopping and entertainment.
