In hopes to solve the issues, I did virus scans, malware scans, disk clean-up, defragmenting, removing everything possible from start-up, the whole shebang. It still wasn't acting as young as I remembered. Finally I remembered to check the task manager to see what it was running at. It turned out it was running at 800 megabytes of ram. The problem? My laptop only had 512 MB of ram. The problem was my little Vaio was running on virtual memory all the time due to it's lack of real memory.
I knew what I had to do and went off searching for another stick of 512 MB ram. It wasn't easy to find, at least not cheap. I found the Kingston 512MB Memory Module (U646C250) as the best price of all and bought it at newegg.com for $31.99. A bit pricey for so little memory, but believe it or not it was the cheapest of all I searched on the web.
It came very well packaged, wrapped in bubble wrap, in a fitting easy to open container. It came with very clear instructions, for anyone not use to adding memory. I was able to open up my laptop and snap in the Kingston Micro Dimm Memory Module in just a few minute in the morning. I started up my computer and the extra memory was automatically recognized.
After I started my computer up I put it through the test by going about normal business and opening up the dozen things I open on a normal day. It was faster, things actually opened when I asked them to. I didn't have to click open and then go make lunch to wait for them to open. It is wonderful. I still have some issues, due to age, but as a whole things open quicker and it rarely freezes from such demand I put on it opening several windows and programs at a time.
The Kingston 512MB Micro Dimm Memory has given my computer the speed I almost thought was forever lost. If you have an aging computer that takes a bit longer to remember than it use to I highly recommend this Kingston 512 MB Micro Dimm ram.
