Kirk Cameron Gives Away Charles Darwin's "Origin of Species" & Calls Him a Racist Connected to Adolph Hitler

Cameron & Ray Comfort Give Away Copies of Charles Darwin's Landmark Volume

Remember 1980's sitcom "Growing Pains", with Kirk Cameron and Alan Thicke? Leonardo DiCaprio even got his big break on the TV hit. These days Kirk still acts, but he's also now a devout Christian with a huge fan following. Cameron does a web show called "The Way Of The Master", with Christian author and lecturer Ray Comfort. In November, to coincide with the 150th Anniversary of Charles Darwin's landmark book "Origin of Species", Comfort and Cameron will give away 100,000 copies of the sacred, science text. Comfort wrote an introduction seeking to balance views on evolution and creationism.

I respect all belief systems as long as they don't infringe on others, and in turn also respect all modes of worship, but this event bothers me. Comfort, Cameron and their group paint Charles Darwin as a racist, a misogynist, and to top it off, that Darwin's theory of evolution connects to Adolph Hitler. Yes, Hitler of Nazi Germany. How he can seriously make this outlandish charge - considering Darwin died in 1882 and Hitler was born in 1889 - boggles the mind. By the time Hitler was an adult, Darwin's work was respected. Many deceptive people can twist anything to suit their ends. Cameron implies that if Hitler referred to Darwin's theories, that this makes them illegitimate.

So, let's play with this. Any person of bad character, in Hitler's case one of the worst in humanity, that adopts theories independent of their creator invalidates that theory? It's like saying a psychotic killer, who goes on a murder spree and then blames it on his dog telling him to do the deeds, deserves to be reasonably heard. We should now hold the dog responsible and perhaps jail or even execute the pet. Silly right? Exactly. As silly as Cameron's logic that evolution is tainted because one of the worst examples of a human being may have twisted it in some way.

I'm no scholar of Darwin, nor scientist versed in evolution complexities, neither are Comfort and Cameron, as I hope they'll readily confess. So I will let you the reader decide. Here are Kirk Cameron's words, taken verbatim from his video, which can be viewed at his website and YouTube.

Kirk Cameron: "He (Ray Comfort) actually wrote a 50 page introduction for the book, which gives the history of evolution, a time line of Darwin's Life, Adolph Hitler's undeniable connection with the theory, Darwin's racism, his disdain for women, and Darwin's thoughts on the existence of God."

Kirk Cameron, Ray Comfort and their Christian group attack a globally revered historic figure, bringing forth charges of racism, misogyny and an illogical affiliation with dictator Adolph Hitler, while espousing peaceful church teachings. That Cameron and company are so insecure about a fundamental scientific school of thought, which has revolutionized other branches of science and disciplines is troubling.

To reiterate my earlier point of being untrained as a scientist, along with Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort, I add this. It's taken from The Encyclopedia Britannica, globally recognized as one of the most fair, complete and accurate depositories of human knowledge.

"New scientific knowledge has led us to realize that the theory of evolution is no longer a mere hypothesis. It is indeed remarkable that this theory has been progressively accepted by researchers, following a series of discoveries in various fields of knowledge. The convergence, neither sought nor fabricated, of the results of work that was conducted independently is in itself a significant argument in favor of this theory."

Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort read the Bible often, being well versed in what many call the "good book." However, the path to true wisdom is educating yourself from the highest quality sources available. Reading the bible is fine, but refusing to accept other views, by not reading books which contradict long held beliefs confuses me. To focus on the most important point, I'll repeat: Why is Charles Darwin's universally accepted theories on evolution, which have been tested, proven and expanded by countless others, so threatening to Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort that they must attack Darwin with undocumented charges of racism, hatred of women and collusion with Adolph Hitler?

This behavior makes Cameron and Comfort appear uneducated or sadly even desperate. Proving your point by character assassination may appeal to some, but it merely compels me to believe these two will do anything to earn the blind loyalty of their flock. Christians, Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Quakers and all other religions owe it to their believers to be truth sayers. Fabrications and falsehoods directed against respected minds like Charles Darwin, and the tried and true tested implementation of evolution's principles, simply keep ignorance alive, furthering a philosophical divide between people, which nobody benefits from ever.

A good book on this subject is Weikart's From Darwin to Hitler. The evolutionist myth is racist to the core. But evolutionists will deny or lie about anything which contradicts their pet theory. If you want the truth read my article on AC "The Uses of Evolution".

Sorry, the below post was cut off. Here is the article I was trying to link below:

    http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=26346

There were quotation marks in the below post that also did not post, which is strange.

In conclusion. Cameron went too far IMO trying to connect Darwin and Hitler, however the author of this piece did not go far enough in admitting Darwin's ideas about natural selection among humans could be very unsettling to many.

None of this means the theory of evolution is bad or wrong. This is not a logical conclusion at all.

It is too bad that authors cannot do more diligent and honest work on this site. I mean, why write defending a scientist and then ignore data points you do not like. This seems about as unscientific as one can be....

OK, I have never had any interest in this subject before, but apparently Darwin was a person that would have had no problem in some level of eugenics based 'solution' just as long as it involved prohibiting procreation and not extermination (a kinder, gentler Hitler, I guess). Darwin wrote in Descent of Man, where he applies the principles of natural selection to human beings. He wrote: It is surprising how soon a want of care, or care wrongly directed, leads to the degeneration of a domestic race; but excepting in the case of man himself, hardly any one is so ignorant as to allow his worst animals to breed.

    And:

If various checks do not prevent the reckless, the vicious and otherwise inferior members of society from increasing at a quicker rate than the better class of men, the nation will retrograde, as has occurred too often in the history of the world. We must remember that progress is no invariable rule.

I got these quotes from a quick Google search. Here is the article

Some posters are being the Kirk Cameron on the 'other side'. Anthony Odom's response, for example, implies that since Hitler tried to use God in his racist narrative that this means anything about creationism or theists. If you believe Cameron was in the wrong, why emulate him?

  • David Bannerini5/10/2010

Loved this one - you really highlighted Kirk Cameron's deceit!

  • Anthony Odom1/3/2010

Adolf Hitler refutiated Darwin. He also repeatedly said that he was doing "God's Work." Hitler had far more in commmon with creationists than he did with Charles Darwin.

So does anyone actually believe Creationism? People can't be that stupid, can they?

  • Norma11/9/2009

Right--it's like Rachel Carson trying to pass herself off as a scientist with the end result of millions of Africans dying of malaria.

I cannot disagree with you more. There is one Truth and that's the Lord's Truth. Next we will put an inset into astronomy books and remind you atheists that the earth is flat and in the center of His universe. Science Lies!

I took grew up in a devout Christian background and I become disillusioned. Christian Pastors tend to think they speak for God. They do not. Nobody speaks for God. I am spiritual, but I will not give me my money, time and energy to pretenders who try to fool people into thinking they're closer to God than the common man. Thanks for writing this.
