Background Information on Kirstie Alley's Weight Loss
Most people know Kirstie Alley from the television show "Cheers" in which she played sexy Rebecca Howe who used to get most of the guy's attention. "Cheers" ended and Kirstie took a break from Hollywood for awhile to raise her kids, and when she decided to come back not many people recognized her anymore. In 2005 Alley appeared back on television in a series called "Fat Actress" but it was a far cry from her days on "Cheers." She was overweight and was poking fun at her weight on the show. Although the show was short-lived it was the launching block to her public weight loss battle.
Kirstie Alley's Weight Loss with Jenny Craig
Kirstie Alley became a spokesperson for the diet company Jenny Craig while filming the show "Fat Actress" in 2005. With Jenny Craig she was able to shed 75 pounds and decided to show off her new body on the Oprah Winfrey show in a bikini, but that would not be her last Oprah appearance. Kirstie decided to walk away from being a Jenny Craig spokesperson and develop her own weight loss company because apparently she knew how to lose weight and keep it off and wanted to help other people; or apparently she thought she knew how to keep the weight off.
A New Weight Loss Company - Organic Liaison
Alley decided to start her own weight loss company approximately 2 years ago but no one, including her, would imagine that in those 2 years the actress would gain back all the 75 pounds she lost with Jenny Craig plus some more. Yes, once again Kirstie appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show except this time she was not wearing a bikini was definitely much heavier than she was on her last appearance.
Alley recently revealed that she had teamed up with nutritionist and other doctors to finally announce the opening of her weight loss company which is called Organic Liaison. The company not only has a membership plan but will also sell their own weight loss products, as well. One of the products that Organic Liaison will sell is a "weight loss elixicir" called Rescue Me, which the actress says helped her lose 20 pounds in 2 months. According to Alley, Rescue Me "will support your body and flood your body with the missing elements that make weight loss an uphill battle."
The Basics of an Organic Liaison Membership
An Organic Liaison membership cost $10 a month. If you want to save some money on the weight loss plan, you can sign up for the year membership at $89 for the year.
The weight loss plan focuses on eating organic and whole foods, as well as eliminating things like pesticides and synthetic chemicals from your life. The weight loss company will provide a member with a detailed meal plan that will meet your "dietary needs." It also offers interaction and competitions with other members as well as a support system.
You don't have to be a member of Organic Liaison to buy the weight loss supplements and products that are offered. Those can simply be bought off the Organic Liaison website.
Kirstie Alley's weight loss company Organic Liaison hasn't been her only recent project. She also revealed that she is once again returning to television in a new reality show called "Kirstie Alley's Big Life." In "Kirstie Alley's Big Life," the public will get to see the actress run her company, take care of her kids, and try her hand at romance, as well, all while trying to lose weight herself.
So, how well do you think that Organic Liaison will do considering Kirstie Alley's track record with weight loss? Will people simply sign up just because it's Kirstie Alley or will more people be turned away because of the actress' own battle with weight loss? Although Kirstie Alley's weight loss company sounds like a great addition to the weight loss market, time will only tell if people respond to the system as Kirstie claims they will.
